email newsletter for PB updates

Post by Danilo »

For the users that don't read the forums and blog, it would be nice to get an
email if a new version is available, so no need to check the website every few month.
I like that for all products i have, with the option to subscribe/unsubscribe.

Thank you, i think i understood.
request: new IDE feature
another user: just use jaPBe

request: library generation by the PB compiler (like DLL)
another user: just use TailBite

request: email newsletter
another user: just use the RSS feed

request: OOP
another user: just use C++
My request for the email newsletter still stands, i requested it several times
over the last 10 years (in old forums and by Andre etc.). This time here in the official request forum.

I have no objections. Just wanted to point out that there already is a way to get notifications about PB updates.

Normally: No. For reading RSS feeds, you have different choices. There are special programs for that purpose, you can read them with browsers (e.g. Firefox), and you can read them e.g. with Thunderbird. Using Thunderbird, RSS feeds are still no e-mails, but the Look-and-Feel is pretty much similar. Additionally, some time ago I wrote a program that fetches RSS feeds, converts them to e-mails and stores them on a local mail server. In that case the answer is "yes": The RSS feed + my program + the local mail server send you e-mails. :-)

The Blog does not announce 4.61beta, 4.60 final, 4.51 final, 4.50 final, 4.40 final ...
so even if everybody would install a local mail server now, it still wouldn't help.

A tool that scans http://www.purebasic.com/news.php every day and sends eMail
would at least help for the final versions. ;)

Hello, and sorry to bump this topic; thought it would be better than starting a new one.

Simple question: does this forum have an RSS feed?
Texas Instruments TI-99/4A Home Computer: the first home computer with a 16bit processor, crammed into an 8bit architecture. Great hardware - Poor design - Wonderful BASIC engine. And it could talk too! Please visit my YouTube Channel :D

Thank you very much, helpy! Exactly what I needed. Those obscure little buttons look just like labels, that I totally missed them.

They are very easy to miss, and look different and are in different locations depending on the theme used. For me, there is no button, and it is just a hyperlink at the top of the page.

As to the OT, a newsletter would be nice, or at least post release announcements to the blog which would help those of us who subscribe to the blog via email.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories. ♥️
