own filesystem ?

Post by Ralf »

i want try to learn and code for a test project how to code and realize and own filesystem. for example when having an second harddrive and you want to save privat stuff like docs and pictures and want to protect this files from anyone. most effictiv would be an own filesystem and not based on ntfs for example. but how to write it. is it even possivle with purebasic and how to say windows how to handle this drive with this filesystem?

this would be impossible to do in pb asm might suit this more better and you would need to build an OS to surrport it

A program can give access to this "coded" Partition. It is also a good protect, when not everyone knows, that only this program can access to the partition.

But first of all: You must lear to read in a partition direct.

It is possible to write device-drivers and service with asm, also with Purebasic. But for all, you have to study some device-drivers sources (asm or c) to do it.Its not an included Purebasic-command but not impossible to do in and with Purebasic.

lol, use your brain and search http://win32asmboard.cjb.net/ for 'device-driver', there are lots of info about it.
And remember, writing Ring-0 appz is not the same like writing the 102.989 version of a mp3-player......

- tutorials are for newbies
- writing device-drivers is for advanced only

NO, not ring1 and ring2 .But i'm able to write nt-service(bridge to ring0) and i know how to write a device driver (in ring0)... And for a
Ring-3 app, it's easy, just compile your app to an exe and ready .

and these things (ring-model from m$) have nothing to do with my name.......:)
