Writing formulae properly with Excel Writer

Post by merendo »

Hello people!

I have a question about Excel Writer. I have already contacted the Author of this extension about this, but since my request is very urgent, I must also post my question here. I apologize.

How do I write a formula properly with XLS Writer? I have tried, with #XLS_CellNormal/Hidden and anything I can think of. The formula appears in the final Excel sheet, but only the way I write it there, not readily calculated. Excel does calculate the formula after my double-clicking the affected cell and pressing return. But I would like Excel to calculate the number properly without my further intervention, and still show the real formula when the cell is selected for editing.

I hope somebody knows how I can go about this.

Thanks!!

Please close this topic. It would seem that my request cannot be complied with with XLS Writer. The author suggested I use PureXLS instead.

Thanks a lot still!!

Just send you an EMail ;-)

But i would not recommend using ExcelWriter anymore.

I have switched to PureXLS from flype.

It far more flexible than ExcelWriter !

Unable to obtain PureXLS anywhere on the net... Could you tell me where I get it or email me the file you have?

Flype seems to have taken the file offline :(

Is there any kind of documentation available for PureXLS? Or perhaps some (working) example code?

I keep failing with creating excel files with it. Excel just doesn't accept them.

Just uploaded the complete ZIP-Archive (its the version Flype released), there is no more documentation.
