Hi, I'm having a problem with my PC not booting up and I trimmed it down to bad RAM and a video issue somewhere, but I am not sure where.
I have an NVIDIA Quadro as well as a GeForce 8400GS graphics card, the former with DisplayPort outputs only and the latter with DVI and VGA. I have two displays, an older LG 19" and a newer Fujitsu 22". Both have DVI and VGA inputs, the fujitsu in addition HDMI input too. With the Quadro I use a DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter and the graphics card is all digital (no way to get VGA output).
I hook up the Quadro to my LG and I get nothing on the screen. Fans spin and the green LED on the motherboard is lit and the PC speaker makes the good one short beep. No errors, but nothing to be seen either. I hook up the Quadro to my Fujitsu and everything works fine. GPU-Z is able to recognize the Quadro and graphics acceleration et cetera works (found no issues with the graphics card).
I hook up my GeForce to my LG and everything works fine, I get to the BIOS screen and can boot to Linux without issues. I hook up the same GeForce to my Fujitsu and everything works fine too.
I used the same DVI cabling with both displays and graphics cards (of course with the DisplayPort adapter for the Quadro). I can't see why the GeForce is able to get my LG to kick in, but my Quadro leaves it saying "NO SIGNAL". Both graphics cards are based on the same graphics core, G98. All I can see is different is only the omission of analog circuitry and addition of DisplayPort capability to the Quadro, however in no situation did I use VGA therefore it could be a bad connector or something, I am not sure.
Any ideas?

What OS are you using? Do you have any kernel dumps from the BSOD you can examine. This can help you identify the root cause of the crash.
To find the location of the kernel dumps, right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery "Settings" -> See the "Dump File" entry.

I believe the issue is OS independent. I am unable to get to the BIOS screen with the Quadro and the LG. All other combinations work fine (Quadro-Fujitsu, GeForce-LG, GeForce-Fujitsu). There is an incompatibility with the LG and DisplayPort-DVI adapter I believe (though can't really say what).
If it helps, the LG was bought in 2006 and the Fujitsu in 2008. Old tech not up to new tech? Don't know what to say.

then you have pretty much answered your own question. Test with a VGA cable... see if it does the same.
If you think it maybe ram, then remove all of your ram, then test each stick individually... Common sense stuff.
The likelihood of TWO faulty GFX cards and monitors is pretty remote.
Beg, borrow or steal a vga or dvi/hdmi cable and test it. Or alternatively, take your PC to a friend/relatives house and plug it into a different monitor.
