When did you last see a Java applet?
I can't remember when I last saw a Java applet in a website, has Flash kicked it into oblivion or is it just fluke that none of the websites I visit use Java?

Re: When did you last see a Java applet?
I (can) see one everyday... the internal chat of the yhoko.com community is in Java... and it is a new version, totally up-to-date...
but yes, Yhoko is working on new Flash versions and Surfaces...
interesting, never thought about it seriously until you asked...

Interesting question - because only yesterday I followed a link to a site build up with a Java-flash and I couldn't see anything but the advice to install or activate Java.
That was the first time I ever came across this kind of handicap.

Re: When did you last see a Java applet?
Having just Googled this it seems Sun have recently released a new language to run on the JVM that's a bit Flashier, it's called JavaFX.
It seems initially it started out as a scripting language on top of Java (like BeanShell or Groovy) but it's now morphed into a new compiled (to bytecode) language.
Looks interesting especially as LG, Sony and Orange have committed to having it on their mobile handsets.

Does a test applet that I wrote a day or two ago count
Before that was a few months ago when I was looking into an online terminal program.
