Forum problems

Post by Justin »

The forum does not remember my login state even if i check the option, i have to log in each visit. Also it does not mark the topics read when i leave the forum, so in every visit i see all the unread post, not just the new ones.

These things did not happened before and are pretty annoying, waht's wrong?

I really wonder why the english forums haven't noticed that problem before as we in the German forums did a long time ago.

This is a feature.

I don't see the point of this feature, if i don't read a post is because i'm no interested in it, i don't want to keep it new forever. New posts are lost because they are mixed with unread ones, you never really know what is new.

I hope it will be changed, now i'm forced to mark the forum read on each exit.

If you were logged in all the time how would the forum know when you left so that it could mark the remaining posts read?

I actually had the reverse problem for awhile. The forum would only keep the unread messages marked for a short period of time (about 10 minutes) after I logged into the forum. If I didn't get to all of the new ones in time it would still marked them as read if I reloaded the web-page. This was very aggravating because I had to visit each sub-forum and check the dates of the most recent postings to avoid missing something I was interested in.

I currently am using a work-around that keeps me logged-in. I link to http://www.purebasic.fr/english/.

Marking the messages read requires only clicking on a single link (Mark forums read). That seems easier to do than for the forum to guess whether you do or don't want to read any more messages.

Justin, this is a feature, not a bug. If the link to the official forums on their site takes you
to a forum that doesn't remember your login state, just use 'search' and you will find some
other link that u can use.

Easy peasy french logic. :)
