Installer Request: Add Version Number!
Installer Request: Add Version Number!
Could you please add the version number to the path that the installer shows on launch?
That helps alot if you install more than one version (i.e. 3.94, 4.2 and 4.3).

> if the Compiler would be named more than just "Purebasic.exe" it would also be handy
Not here it wouldn't. I install over previous versions so having a different IDE
name would break my shortcuts and launch tools. Can't you just rename it?

I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I don't really get what you mean....
if I want to associate the .pb extension to the actual purebasic.exe,
and I have more than one PB Versions installed,
then I get more than one entries in the application list,
and all of them are named the same,
and there is no way to determine wich the actual version is,
they even do not appear in the same order everytime I open that list.
so, if this description would carry the version number, it would be really helpful.

Even if it doesn't happen, you can download resource hacker, and change the version info. (the description field obviously), click compile script, then saveKaeru Gaman wrote:so, if this description would carry the version number, it would be really helpful.
you then need to open regedit and delete any occurrence of "PureBasic Development Environment" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WIndows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache (so explorer refreshes it's cached value)

Oh you use Vista? Then you're stuck with it. In XP you just go into folder properties and in the filetype list you can name your menu entries anything you want.Kaeru Gaman wrote:I don't really get what you mean....

@lex
yap, exactly what I mean. and thnx for the recommendation, but I'm not interested in using Hacker-Tools.
@Trond
okeee... I begin to get the point...
no I don't use Vista (nje dla idiotov)
in the folder properties -> filetype list -> change I get exactly the list I was talking about...

after all, my wish is just to make the handling of this easier.
I think it should not be necessary for someone who just wants to try some programming
to dig deep into the hidden secrets of explorer preferences...

ah yes... I was a bit confused because it was labeled "Wiederherstellen",
dunno what was up there, perhaps something changed manually in some other place.
after pressing "Wiederherstellen" once, it displayed "Erweitert" like it should.
in the next Dialog I can directly enter the App with Path and Parameters.
so, no problem anymore to specify the correct version...
but....
should be easier, more "trainee" friendly...
