Hey guys, any news here? It's been a while since anything was posted.

And why no standalone installer for the beta? I'd love to test it but want to install it in a totally different location so I can run both versions concurrently.

I know it is possible to just install PB again in another directory and then update it but I don't like to risk messing up my install as it is :-)

You can.
I have 4 different PB versions on my computer ; no problem.

Make a copy of your original PB4.10 folder.
Edit the 'Purebasic directory' path in UpdateTool.exe accordingly.

EDIT : I never messed up any PB install with this technique.
For free libraries and tools, visit my web site (also home of jaPBe V3 and PureFORM).

Sure, I know you can do that -- it'd just curious why there is no full installer. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that it's an automated build process to make the full installer.

If not, Fred & Co : Take a look at Visual Build Professional. I can't live without it :-)

Mistrel wrote:It's hard to identify that the debugger is off in 4.2. Instead of indenting the entire "Use Debugger" line in the menu there is just a tiny check mark on the left side which is even harder to read because of the high contrast blue gradient.

Please revert the theme changes made for 4.2. The IDE was fine before and does not need to go down the path of becoming an eyesore like Visual Studio.

Thank you for this upgrade. Nice to see how well PB is improving. On the other hand I totally agree with Mistrel. There was zero problem with the old IDE...and the blue gradient thingy is absolutely not necessary, it's not even practical, but ugly. If you don't want to remove it, then please make it optional so whoever doesn't like it can turn it on/off in the preferences.

Next, are we moving to 4.2 beta 3 or 4.2 official? (walks up and down in anticipation) ;)

PB 4.2 beta 2+
PureBasic 5.73 | SpiderBasic 2.30 | Windows 10 Pro (x64) | Linux Mint 20.1 (x64)
Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

+1

I've also noticed that the keyboard shortcuts no longer work. :( To compile I used to be able to type A-C,E, now I either have to use the mouse or use Alt-C, then the arrow, and finally Enter. Don't know if this is because of the new theme stuff but it is annoying.

??? What's wrong with pressing F5 to compile? Or just change the keyboard shortcuts from preferences to whatever you want?

I don't think it would take much to make that ugly blue menu look much better. Hopefully it will be on the next beta/final 4.2? I was actually hoping for the next beta this weekend (I think I have update fever again - I just love new updates/betas/alphas!). :D
