You wont find a standard here. If you went to a recipe swapping forum and asked this question then you'd probably find people with very low end machines. If you went to a 'Unreal Tournament 2003' forum then you'd find people with very high end machines. I think PureBasic programmers tend to have low to mid range machines because they don't have a large income or they don't really play 3D games that often.
You'll probably find a more wealthier bunch of programmers with faster machines in a Blitz3D forum.
I have a Geforce 2 with 32 meg. I don't really have any plans to upgrade my machine because I'd rather play games on a dedicated games machine like a Playstation 2. I reckon 8 meg of video memory is more than enough for applications programmers.
