Auto Complete Issues

Post by Fluid Byte »

I don't know if this is a bug, feature or just regular behavior. When the AutoComplete menu pops up the IDE doesn't accept any more input. Wich is really anoying. So if you type "Set" for example and realize you wanted to type something else and press backspace nuttin happens.

Another question is, how do you show the menu manually? I mean the shortcut. It's Ctrl + Space on Windows but on Mac OS X?

[/edit]
I just figured out that the AutoComplete menu key is set in shortcuts in the preferences. It's set to Command + Key80, but what the hell is Key80?

Its CMD+Space on OSX. Dunno why the preferences show "Key80" instead of the real name.
About the input, i will have to investigate this...

Ha yes, starting with 10.4, CMD+Space is a global hotkey for spotlight. We will have to change the default one then.

I guess you can decide wether to change it or not because i know other software packages don't bother. I use Adobe Illustrator on the mac and that uses CMD+Space for swapping tools, etc. Adobe don't bother changing the key bindings ;).

P.S. you can reconfigure the Illustrator keys in prefs and reconfigure spotlight keys in System Preferences->Spotlight.

I'm aware of that but you get used to things you know? Image

Purchased a second hand Mac Mini yesterday and up and running.

In the preferences theres an option to have the autocomplete pop up automatically after 3 letters. That gets round the problem for me.

It isn't Key8o.

It's the propellory thingy on the command key, not an 8.

lol :D

It sais "Key80" (which is space) because it is the 80th key in the language array
of the IDE. There is a problem with displaying the correct language string, thats all.
