Can't read a topic...

Post by AND51 »

Hello!

I always click "show posts since last visit". On this page one thread "Announcement: PureBasic 4.10 alpha 1 (for real now)", but I can't read it!
This topic is saved in "Alpha Discussion", a sub-forum which I also can't enter. In the Purebasic Forum Index this sub-forum isn't even listed.

What am I doing wrong? I've already deleted cookies, etc...

I can't even see the alpha forums now  I am guessing they have become selective about who they let in :?

There is at the moment no alpha version of PureBasic
PureBasic 5.73 | SpiderBasic 2.30 | Windows 10 Pro (x64) | Linux Mint 20.1 (x64)
Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

Actually there is, the alpha phase for 4.10 (Windows) just started.
It is not public though, as we do not want these (still incomplete) versions to spread too much.

There was a problem with forum permissions which still allowed
you to see some of the topics. It is fixed now.

How much do we have to pay to be an alpha tester?

Well, this is the reason why we usually keep this a secret...
Before more people try to PM me about this:

No, you cannot ask to be an alpha tester.
It is something that we invite only specific people to participate in.

In the Alpha-period, we only want a few people to try the (mostly unfinished)
new features to discover some first bugs and give us some feedback while in development.
Largescale testing is done in the public Beta-period, so we really only need a handfull of people here.

People we invite are:
1) People we think have a good knowledge on the concept of a new feature and therefore
can provide us with a valuable opinion on them.

2) People we think may need advanced knowledge of new features to adopt
any 3rd party projects related to PB.

3) People that are very active in the community in assisting others and posting help,
who we think deserve to get this little extra of having a peek at the upcomming release.

So, unless you are of group 1 or 2, your best chance to become an alphatester
is to be an active member of the community especially with regard to
helping other people out (not just OffTopic Hoff-related talk ;))

Btw, we select new people for each Version's Alpha-phase, so if you are not
part of it this time, maybe with the next one...

For everyone else: Don't worry, we plan to keep this Alpha-period very short,
so you will all get to play with the new stuff with the first beta soon. :)

I hope, home points of the wishlist will have chances to be implemented (integer math, better quad support etc.)...

Thanks in advance...
