Saitek Pro Gamer Command
Re: Saitek Pro Gamer Command
Nothing EVER beats a keyboard+mouse combo. EVER.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I would agree except that frequently, no matter how you set up your controls, you have to reach keys that require you move your fingers from the "home" keys.PB wrote:Nothing EVER beats a keyboard+mouse combo. EVER.
That wouldn't be a problem except that it almost never fails that when you decide to move away from the "home" keys, something happens that makes you wish you hadn't.
So I'm thinking a game controler designed for keyboard controled games would be a good way to eliminate or at least minimize that.
I've looked at several, including zBoard's Ideazon Fang, Belkin's Nostromo n52 and this Saitek Pro Gamer Command. Fang has way too many keys for my tastes and doesn't look like it would be very comfortable to use over long periods and from reviews I've read, the keys aren't programable. the Belkin n52 ad Saitek Pro Gamer Command are very similar though the Saitek unit has a few more keys than Belkin's unit.
I currently have Microsoft's Strategic Commander but it is targeted more towards RTS games like WarCraft and StarCraft while I'm looking for something for FPS games like Doom and Quake which are my favorite type of games.
I also have Microsoft's SideWinder FreeStyle Pro but it plugs into the old joystick/game/midi port which I don't have. I've seen comments that it can also be used with USB but don't know if I have the USB adaptor for it, I'm also skeptical how well suited it would be for keyboard+mouse oriented FPS games.
