Maybe, but Blitz and DB are (only) for games. I think PB is more an all purpose programming language.Kale wrote:Your missing the big picture. If there was better 3D support you would see a massive increase in people using it. Just look at blitz and DB.gnozal wrote:Just for the record, and I think I am not the only one, I use PB for Win32 apps and I don't care about 3D at all.
Probably < 1% of PB registered users do 3D, but maybe I'm wrong.

I am not saying that, only that it should not be the main purpose IMHO (yet another Blitz 3D).Kale wrote:Exactly! So why shouldn't PB be used for games?gnozal wrote:Maybe, but Blitz and DB are (only) for games. I think PB is more an all purpose programming language.

I agree. But that doesn't mean it can't compete with blitz3D.gnozal wrote:I am not saying that, only that it should not be the main purpose IMHO (yet another Blitz 3D).Kale wrote:Exactly! I think it's obvious that with 3d support to rival Blitz3d/Darkbasic a lot of their users would come to PB in droves......
So why doesn't Fred concentrate on 3D ? The sales of PB would be huge.....
Maybe Fred has a different agenda than making money ?
I don't know the answers.... but I can definately say that I'm going to start working with Dream Motion.... looks great !

I work with 3D, so I must be part of that 1%. Right now, I'm using Blitz3D for the 3D portion of my programming, but it would be nice to have it within PureBasic...dontmailme wrote: Indeed.....

Congratulations, robleong, you made this a 100-replies-thread
After I left my thread and by chance saw today how far it went I think I should add some lines again...
1. I started the collection of procedures which in my view are missed most ... but soon found out that it's more than that ... once you start there's always another function missing until a system like that would be complete. And - coming from Blitz3D - the system with handles, buffers, etc. is such a different one in PureBasic that its quite a change ... so I cancelled the try ...
2. There is an example how it can work: Look at the Blitz Max Forums. BMax is 2D at present; 3D is in the works and shall be added one day ... meanwhile a user has added nearly the complete set of Blitz3D Functions to BMax within several month ... this shows its possible to do such a thing ... and since PureBasic already has a 3D-System and only 20 - 30 % is missing to make it a superb one ... okay I leave that open to the developers
Actually - although it looks I was very unhappy with it - I must say that I am very satisfied with PureBasic ... the usage has turned from 20 : 80 % (PB : Blitz3D) to 95 : 5 % since I work on Windows-Apps and Games (what I do at present) ...
Wish you all a nice time ... until the the 200th reply
