Windows Live Messenger is just a new-skinned MSN Messenger, maybe it has some other features, but it still and is the same and old bad messenger :)
GAIM rules, you should check it out! The Windows Live Messenger is just a waste of harddisk space and RAM memory (as I had WinXP, MSN Messenger took more than 45% of my total RAM [I had 1.5Gb RAM  ])

I don't know what the hell you were doing with MSN, at the moment it's only using 8,270 KB of RAM on my laptop - and that's only got 512 MB or RAM which is shared with the graphics chip!
