US hacker gets five years in the slammer (Silicon.com, 5/9/06)
A US man has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison after he was found guilty of illegally controlling around 400,000 third party PCs for the purposes of launching malware attacks. Jeanson James Ancheta, 21, from California, rented out space on this zombie network of compromised machines for the sending of spam and malware, and also for launching denial of service attacks.

Among the machines infected by Ancheta were computers at the US military test base at China Lake in the Mojave Desert. Ancheta was ordered to pay the US Navy $15,000 in damages as well as surrendering $60,000 in proceeds from his crimes. Ancheta advertised his zombie network - or botnet - on his own website called botz4sale.

he infected 400,000 computers! WoW! Probably the largest zombie network in the world, and he was even selling space on his 'network'.

The sentence he recieved there was probably more fitting to his crime than this dude:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story ... 43,00.html

who is a London born "hacker" who invaded the computers of NASA, NSA, The Pentagon, NORAD, you name it, for over 2 years searching for UFO cover up stories. I used the term hacker in inverted commas because this guy didn't really break his way in, he just used a simple script to search for unsecured PCs in the military ip range. Yes, even the pentagon apparently don't have passwords on many PCs!!!

Ok, yes, this guy has been where he shouldn't of been, but does his actions really warrant a 70 year jail term?

Here in the UK about 2 months ago, a driver who had no license and who was speeding through a quiet country village, knocked over and killed a small child. He never stopped to claim responsibility (hit and run) yet still he only got 3 months in jail! What is this world coming to?

Oh and by the way, Gary McKinnonm the uber hacker, says he found a UFO cover up (reversed engineered), Anit-grav engine prototypes (working), free energy reactors (buried), the lot!.
