PB rocks! But we all know that anyhow...

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

PB rocks! But we all know that anyhow...

Is it me, or do others feel that this language is really picking up speed?

For the last two years or so, I have done little more than simply tinker with PB, what with one thing and another. My interest has only ever been in developing business-type applications, but have always found PB lacking the general high level tools that I required to really make a fist of things. Thus I have always drifted off to languages which are not half as fun to program with as PB etc. but would suffice in getting the job done.

But now, through the continued development of the language and this outstandingly generous community, all the necessary tools and know how are but a few clicks of the mouse away, and this is still the most enjoyable language to work with. Indeed, I am a good way through my first commercial app to be written in PB and I couldn't be happier with the progress and the fact that I really see no limits now to this language.

Sorry for the little rant, I don't normally get involved with such off topic discussions, but I simply think that everyone involved with these forums and the PB team in particular, deserve one huge pat on the old back and a few jars of the good stuff down the local watering hole. As to who's paying...

Well, a little well-deserved accolades for Fred et al is well appreciated.

And I agree.

Even before PB4 is released I'm impressed with PB. I use BlitzMax\BlitzGUI as well and they each have their pluses and minuses. One area that PB far exceeds BM is in the documentation, although they both could use some improvement (as we've discussed on this forum many times).

PB4 will, I believe, be a "new beginning" for PB and therefore, I suggest a name change to:

PureCode Professional

or something equally curious, removing the word 'Basic' from the name. We all know how powerful PB is, but the new coder out there might make some pre-decisions about it because of the word 'Basic'.

Anyone else think this could be something to consider?

It was the word 'Basic' in the title which first led me to the language. I think the name 'Purebasic' perfectly encapsulates what the language is about and so I'd be sorry to see it changed. It is an easy language to learn, a powerful language to use and apply, -and a whole heap of fun!

I can knock up a basic app in Visual B. in about ten minutes, but that is about all I can stand before I nod off! It's just no fun at all.

Purebasic for the pure-programmers is what I reckon! :D

Purebasic Pro has a nice ring to it though!

Why not just tack on a buzzword for maximum hype:

GoogleBasic
AjaxBasic
Web2.0Basic

"SexBasic" would give much search results...
