Hello everyone,
Just try to set the file format to "UTF8" and restart the IDE. You will notice that the file format return to "Plain text". It look like the setting is not save in the preferences file.

Ubuntu 20.04 x64

Re: PB 5.72 - Setting the file format doesn't stick
You're only setting UTF-8 for that specific tab you have open, which is discarded when you close the IDE.
You want Preferences > Compiler > Defaults > "Sourcefile text encoding"
(I don't know if it makes sense being under "Compiler")
You want Preferences > Compiler > Defaults > "Sourcefile text encoding"

What make no sense it's to have this setting per file in the "File" menu. Anyway thanks for the info.
