Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
Hi,
When reading that, I think there's good reasons to still think that Ogre is a great tool to do 3D gaming.
However, seeing that no news are ever posted about the future of PB, I'd like to know if there's a plan to support all these features one day? Could be interested.
Thanks.

Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
I really think the answer is quite obvious.
The team has done a marvelous job adding new features and enhanced stability.
One thing is certain: You can do almost anything with the implementation as is and I'm
pretty sure that the team will make even more additions, when the time is right.

Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
Switching to OGRE 2.0+ is a major step and we wait for it to be more mature to jump on it.

OGRE 2.1 'Baldur' Released https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-nAhXom_ag
Et cetera is my worst enemy
Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
And a few days later Version 2.2.1
https://www.ogre3d.org/2020/04/30/ogre- ... s-released
It would be really nice (understatement) to have all those new features in PureBasic.

Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
Imho. it would be way more beneficial to just drop this mess of an engine entirely and focus on something else.
Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
I did all my 3D work with OGRE,
and I putted a lot of energy (last 10 years) in this direction ...
So, if there is an upgrade to OGRE 2.2, I will be very happy ...

Maybe the Ogre part of PB should be also OpenSource?Mijikai wrote:Imho. it would be way more beneficial to just drop this mess of an engine entirely and focus on something else.

Re: Is PB still actively supporting Ogre?
I think some the problems with ogre 2.0 series is the lack of 1st and 3rd party plugins. If PB was to go to Ogre 2. You would only get graphics. Ogre 1 gives broad hardware support including DX9 and OpenGL 1.5 class Hardware. I think users would have to wait for support for CEGUI, Terrain, Particles, Bullet, Hydra(I think that is the water effects is called). I am fine with Ogre 1. I do like seeing new features of any kind. I am glad PB have a 3D library.
