Thanks for the help to my question on a mac install of pure basic helped alot.
I also figured out a lot. hope with will help someone else out so here we go.
The oldest mac this will work on seems to be a Macbook A1181 with the 2.5 gig CPU core 2 duo not the slower. 2.00gig one. First you install OSX 10.6.X then after all updates you should be at 10.6.8 then install MacOS 10.8.5 Mountain Lion.
Next grab pure basic for mac 64 Bit 5.70
then get Xcode 4.63 newer ones dont work on MacOS 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. just need the command line tools.
Install Xcode first let it figure out where to put it.
Next copy over purebasic just put in a new folder off your home dir on your mac.
run the main IDE and all should be good.

Strange i just tried the OSX 64 bit version and it gives a strange error about incompatible resources. Time to dig into this a bit more... any ideas anybody.
