I really thought I was being thoughtful by organizing my posts into something that users would appreciate. Wow.. who knew that people would actually use their cellphones to read forum posts? Sounds like a nightmare to me, but then, I'm very 'old-school'.

I read the forum on the phone when I can't code... And yes, forcing like ends into me makes it less readable.

I also read the forum on my wide screen high res PC. I typically have it maximized, but when I want to read something as a reference while I'm coding, I might make the forum 20 to 30 percent of screen width... Another situation where forced width reduces readability.

1) This has nothing to do with domination and regulation, it was a request.

2) I think your definition of minority is a little strange. I would assign the answers to this request:

What's the minority here? Maybe you've lost the overview a bit because there are too many words next to each other for you in your browser.

3) The small view of things is rather on your side and that even in multiple wording:

• You're just referring to your little world, which obviously consists of a big screen and a browser in maximized display. Obviously, you don't know much about how to organize your screen and how a browser works.
• Probably you are still using a Nokia 3110 or similar as mobile phone, since you obviously have never used a browser on a mobile phone before.
• Maybe you havn't noticed in your limited world that English is only the mother tongue of a very small part of the world's population (about 5%).
• Since you obviously find it difficult to understand longer lines, it only shows that you have a very, very small view of things.

You know why good books or newspapers put their
pages in columns? It increases readability immensely.
Lengthy lines are an imposition.

Yes, I know why, because it is not possible to change the width of a newspaper like a browser. Except for reference books, I don't know of any books with continuous text written in several columns. Here it is assumed that the reader can recognize connections that go beyond more than five words in a line. But maybe I haven't read a good book yet.

In the great era of NNTP forums (last century) it was recommended to cut the lines to 72 characters and users of flowed newsreaders were "flamed".

Now I always cut my codes to 80 characters (using the possible cuts in PB (, +)
I dream of a day when we would have " _" (space + underscore + CRLF) to make line breaks like in VB and AutoIt

For the text I also try to make short sentences.
- This facilitates automatic translation
- On a 20-inch full screen, it keeps my head from moving.

What about a compromise? You stop breaking your lines in the middle of a sentence but you can break it after every point, question or exclamation mark. So that automatic translation works just fine.

• unable to understand the simplest connections

I'm beginning to understand what you mean by a good book. Yes, these books in paperback format, where the text is presented in speech bubbles, have very short lines. But I have to disappoint you, these things are generally not classified as 'good books'. As already mentioned, in really 'good books' the text goes across the entire page width, without columns.

So don't use translaters, instead learn the language.
