Death Star vs Asteroids
Re: Death Star vs Asteroids
Hi davido,
You are most welcome, thank you for your comments and support.
------------------------------------------------
Updated:
- added Program Parameter option: nointro
- added a Help window: [ H ] KEY
- optimized parts of the code
NB*: While testing the game on an older system, disabling the introduction was a needed option; set the [ nointro ] parameter within a shortcut.

Hi BarryG,
Wow, the posts you're referring to are from 2017, but like all thing programming past is prologue.
Lets all hope for a future with more steps forward and less steps [rolled] back

This topic showed up as "New" when I visited (due to your post yesterday), and I didn't notice the dates when I scrolled through the full topic.

Re: Death Star vs Asteroids
Nice!
Tip:
If you use an unshaded sphere for the death star and put a static spherical gradient (with alpha) over it, you will get a pseudo 3d effect, because the specular will keep the direction of the light when the death star rotate

Re: Death Star vs Asteroids
Hi Caronte3D,
Thank you for your post, what a great suggestion...
First, a couple examples from PureBasic Interface to OpenCV were needed to "ready the Death Star".
- cv_gamma.pb was used to remove shade from the original Death Star image
- cv_enhance_detail.pb was used to bring back the detail flushed out when the image was unshaded
Next, I tried creating a spherical gradient using PureBasic internal commands, but all my attempts fell short.
I ended up finding a suitable image on the net.
Finally, to make it a bit more interesting, light direction is determined by the location of the "light source" from the random background images. In addition, the intensity of the light is randomized.

Updated:
- subtle but effective change to the Death Star as suggested by Caronte3D

@JHPJHP,
There are NO free executables on your "My PureBasic Stuff" page!
I dont want pay for a blind date with your "xyz" stuff.

Hi IceSoft,
Everything under the FREE STUFF menu option is available to download without an access key. When you click anyone of the menu item links an information window opens... be patient, an option to download the selected file will pop up within a short period of time.
NOTE: Some files may take longer depending on the size of the download.
Please let me know if you have any trouble with anyone of the downloads.
Nor should you.IceSoft wrote:I dont want pay for a blind date with your "xyz" stuff.
