Yet, another one mp3 music player :D

ACME Media Player is a small free multimedia player.
 The first goal was to do something small (on the screen) while remaining as readable as possible and intuitive to use.
(It didn't take long to do, because I reuse a lot of code of my other tool: ACME Desk)

Features:
  • Reduction of the height to a single line (32 pixels)
  • Playback of music files (MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WAV) by drag and drop (one or more files)
  • Playback of video files (AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, DIVX) by drag and drop
  • Playlist playback (m3u) by drag and drop or stored list
  • Reading WebRadios
  • Reading or editing of all types of programs associated with Windows
  • Reduction to one line or trayicon
  • Creation of playlists (but not yet editable)
  • French / English
  • Configuration in an INI file
  • Installation or portable version. 32 and 64 bits. Windows XP to 10.

  • Editor for playlists
  • Drop de folders (read all files from one folder)
  • Image viewer

:!: Notes:
  • Playlist file are simple text file (*.m3u) On file per line.
  • In portable mode INI in exe file, otherwise in %appdata%\ACME_MediaPlayer
  • Mp3 and video use PB movie lib, webradio use fmodex

Download at bottom of page
(webpage is in french for the moment, but program is in french and english)
VirusTotal: 0/69 8)

To have webradio link, check for exemple
https://www.internet-radio.com/
Copy link from .pls and copy cut end or URL
between ?u= and last /
Check exemples in INI file

Feedback welcome (You can also use the "mail author" option in the main menu, which will open your mail client to the right address.)

Enjoy

:)

Yes, all forms are still done with PB form designer :P

Downloads - Freeware - Windows only
(unless you are using a USB stick, take the installable version. It does not write anything in the registry database, but creates the icon on the desktop, the uninstall program)

Thanks RSBasic

New version 1.6 and then 1.7
Improved ergonomics (this is the most time-consuming)

1.6
- Added: Menu ico (green) to open main menu
- Modified: Volume cursor now over main win (horizontal)
- Added: Window to edit Configuration (INI file) Radios, PlayLists

1.7
- BugFix: Dectect if playlist is modified (add/del) and ask to save
- Bugfix: Display
- Display: Removed useless columns on playlist manager
- BugFix: Check version
- Add: Setup will not try to install new INI if INI still exist (in %appdata%\ACME_MediaPlayer)
- Bugfix: Buttons webradio shortcuts toggle
- Added: Playlist read
- Added: New window to see content of playlist files
- Added: Option to delete file

All windows are always made with the Form Designer. There are too many gadgets in each and too many modifications to do it so quickly by hand.

Download page (Windows only)
Webpage is in french, but program is in french and english
Direct link to setup
(VirusTotal 0/69)

Thank you, but this is not possible (for the moment). I use the internal PB lib (Movie) and it can only play audio formats: MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG, WAV and video: AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, DIVX.

This may be possible with the Fmodex lib (which I use to listen to radio streams), but I haven't found it in the documentation yet.

Cue files are just "Playlists" for a longer piece of music.
They're used if you have for example, a 1 hour long recording of a live performance (or contonius DJ mix) or anything where you don't want to have gaps in between the tracks, so instead of having 10-20 individual mp3 files, you have one large one.
The cue file just contains timestamps (and maybe track info) and behaves like a playlist where you can select the "tracks" on that recording and it jumps to the timestamp.

So cue files ares just text files that contain information about where to jump on a longer recording, if the user selects a track from the list.

Wikipedia probably is better at explaining: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cue_sheet_(computing)#Examples

As with this example, you would provide a list like this to the listener:
Code:
    Faithless – Reverence
    Faithless – She's My Baby
Faithless – Take the Long Way Home
    Faithless – Insomnia
Faithless – Bring the Family Back
    Faithless – Salva Mea
    Faithless – Dirty Old Man
Faithless – God Is a DJ

And when they click on "Salva mea", your programm skips to "30:50:00" (see cue file on the wiki)
