FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
I was developing something simple and featureless from a request on a ham radio forum and as it was personally useful to me, I finished it (For a change).
Program has a help file with all the features and current changes and a sample database.
Keeps tab of the basic information (all requests from the ham radio forum members) that you might want to keep track of. Basic printing will follow after my holiday.

Hi Fangbeast,
I would if I could
But when I open the logbook.chm file,
I can see the directory structure,
but in the main part I can read something like: 'The address is not valid'
And if I open it inside the program with 'F1' I see: 'Navigation to the web page interrupted'
(That's not the original text, since I have the german version. It's only my translation.)
I use XP 32bit SP3.

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
Strange. I created the CHM with Vizacc helpMaker (free but commercial quality) and it's working fine on my windows 7 ultimate 32 bit system. But when I open the logbook.chm file,
I can see the directory structure,
but in the main part I can read something like: 'The address is not valid'
I just tested and launched it from my programming in the IDE, PB4.51 and it works. Then I recompiled it to an EXE and pressed F1 from there and it worked. And if I open it inside the program with 'F1' I see: 'Navigation to the web page interrupted'
Also just tested on a Windows XP copy with SP2 running inside Virtualbox and both worked.
This is just a far fetched idea but there is a live link going to someone's page in the credits page but surely it shouldn't do that (interrupt the web) at all until you click on it???
Do you want me to send you a decompiled CHM to HTML copy until other xp users have a chance to test this?
I am just using a standard PB OpenHelp command here.

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
Hi Fangbeast,
I just tried it on a 'windows server 2003'.
It works there without problems.
Hm... strange, as you said already. But that's life.
But I still can not find the way how to setup the equipment.
Callsign and location are clear now
But since it was no visible stringgadget I did not try this before.

I'll upgrade my VirtualBox copy ox XP to SP3 and try it but I don't think it will be different.I just tried it on a 'windows server 2003'. It works there without problems.
I don't understand, setup what equipment? This is a logging program and not a hardware control program, there is nothing to set up?? Unless you mean something else? But I still can not find the way how to setup the equipment.
hehehe, I am evil.Callsign and location are clear now
Fair enough too, you couldn't read the help file else it would have told you.But since it was no visible stringgadget I did not try this before.
Still wish I knew what was going on, but that's XP for you.

Hi,
equipment: 'Radio used' and 'Antenna'
I can override the entries, but not delete or add an entry.
And this values are 'fixed' (until I build or buy something new)

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
Ah, now I understand.equipment: 'Radio used' and 'Antenna'
That doesn't make sense either.I can override the entries, but not delete or add an entry.
1. I create a new record.
2. I fill in the antenna and radio fields because they are editable combo boxes.
3. I save the record.
4. I open the record, decide I don't like the radio and antenna and overwrite them (type over or select one of the entries in the box)
5. I save the record.
6. I open the record again and the changes are there.
So, I don't understand the problem.
Standard PB editable combobox. Type over existing text in the box and it replaces it.
When you open a form, that combobox is autofilled from existing entries in the database. You can select one of those but you can still type over it to replace it, it works.
Next time you open the form, the entered radio is added to the selectable list if it doesn't already exist.
If you are talking about adding or deleting an entry in the selectable combobox list, that's not how those gadgets work.

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
Hi Fangbeast,
I know what you mean and how to do it. But...
I'm a pedantic german and when I made a typo one month ago, than I have a problem.
I have to go through all entries to find the typo.
Else I have to live with to similar entries.
In my poor opinion it makes more sense to add a setup tab where I can fill in all the 'fixed' stuff:
like all bands which I use, the Antenna, the Radio, the mode.
Save it in a seperate table.
But maybe it is to much work for a quick hack program.
And if no other user wants such a thing, let it be.
(Don't do it for me, since I'm only a 'listener')

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
I understand what you mean now and it actually sounds like a smart idea. Not having to scroll through all bands (long list) is good. I got this list from an amateur radio WIKI an not all are supported here. Different in every country.
It will have to wait till I get back from holiday next Tuesday. You will have to remind me.

Fangbeast, I used WinCHM Pro for a while and thought it was pretty good, if you ever consider looking for an alternative.

It's nice but My wife and I just got back from holiday (second small holiday in 28 years) and I am still paying off my amateur gear as well and have no money to spend.Mistrel wrote:Fangbeast, I used WinCHM Pro for a while and thought it was pretty good, if you ever consider looking for an alternative.
Vizacc isn't perfect but it is free at least, no idea what is happening on Bernd's system and the Vizacc site is offline at the moment (for me) and I cannot report to them.

Re: FEHAL (FEatureless HAm radio Logger)
i can't help myself and have been playing. Many things got fixed and added since this release so I updated the version to 3. Rudimentary printing support is not the least of it.
