... http://www.PureArea.net got an update:
PureBasic v4.60 "Final" released - happy Christmas time!!

After a long wait the "final" version is now out - grab the new full version in your personal Download Area or the demo version on http://www.purebasic.com.

All what is new or updated, can be read on the Update and History sites. The latest Manual for PB v4.60 is online as well (if you need: the manual for PB 4.50 still can be accessed here).

Why the new version of PureBasic has delayed and the users don't need to worry about the further development, Fred writes in the PureBasic Team Blog.

The PureArea.net Showcase had 400,000 vistors until now - join it and present your PureBasic project to the public!

Otherwise - happy and healthy Christmas time to you all!

Just to update this thread... :)

See the extra forum thread about the "Big Christmas Interview with Fred" actually released on http://www.PureArea.net - see announcement here: http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... 14&t=52389

It would be nice, if more people join the "Showcase" and publish their PB software there 8)

Of course not nice, sorry!

But as PureArea.net isn't hosting (almost all) projects presented in the Showcase, it's up to the authors to update download links etc...

Hi,

Any chance to make a website like the following FreeBasic website. Then all games can be downloaded. Thank you.!

@learnlearntt: If anyone would do such a thing for PB, it would be nice. But not from me, at least not for now... What's available is the 'Showcase' on PureArea.net

@All: next small update - here are the news:
PureArea.net News on 27th April 2013 wrote: PureBasic in LinuxUser magazine - new book about 3D programming

The german LinuxUser magazine wrote about PureBasic in its issue of November 2012 as part of a comperative test with Gambas and BlitzMax, where PureBasic got a quite good result. Click here for the (german) article "GUI programming made easy with Basic". Let's see, in which magazines we will find PureBasic in 2013...

To help beginners with the start of programming 3D applications and games, and learning the use of the OGRE 3D engine, Andreas Groß has written a book. This he presents here (german only) - see also the "Books & Tutorial" section for more.

That is a very fair article. I do wish it could be updated to reflect that PB now has a cross-platform GUI designer now.

Based on the review, I will definitely give GAMBAS another try.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories. ♥️

I hope it will be done or there will be a complete new article next months.

I've contacted around 15 german-speaking computer magazines and sent them a "PureBasic FactSheet" (all done in close contact with Fred) with newest details about PB. I hope at least several will release a review or something similar... ;-)

Any suggestions for english-speaking magazines (name, website, editors...) are welcome! 8)

Maleware Link on your side

Post by Motu »

Hi Andre,
on page 8 of the showcase I get a maleware warning from google chrome that you have linked to a maleware site. Here the message:

"Achtung: Malware!

maybe you should take a look at this.

@Motu: this is the website of 'Lebostein', a well-known user of this PB forum. I think (but can't be 100% sure), that it's a false warning - similar to the regularly happening false Anti-Virus (heuristic) warnings...

Don't seem so:

@Motu: Can you remove the direct link to lebostein.de?
sorry for my bad english

... http://www.PureArea.net has got an update:
PureBasic v5.20 final (LTS) released

Fantasie Software released an absolutely great update of the PureBasic package yesterday. After a longer beta-test phase this new version brings a long list of great additions - only some examples: new Module support (allowing name-spaces in PureBasic sources), new Dialog and Runtime libraries (allowing easier GUI creation using an XML description with automatic resizing...), BindEvent support (attach procedures directly to specific GUI events), GTK3 on Linux, DirectX 11 on Windows, many improvements to 2D and 3D graphics, etc. - see the complete list in the History!

Image
GUI creation using the new Dialog library (using XML-based definition)

Furthermore a new service was introduced with this new version: "LTS" means "Long-time service" - for 2 years (until 17th Sept. 2015) the v5.20 will stay with its current functionality and syntax, but bug-fixes will be done for this version. In the meantime PureBasic evolves further and new versions (PB 5.30...) including this bug-fixes, but also new functions, probably (small!) syntax changes, etc. will be released. So everyone can use what he like - probably stay with PB5.20 LTS for maintaining his actual project, and use future PB versions for new projects...

And best of all - you buy the full-version licence once, but you will get every update and every new version (for all supported OS) for free!! Get your full version licence now!

You should also take a look to the PureBasic Blog. There Fred and freak released interesting articles about API changes and the new Module support. You also find the article about the "Anti-virus plague" (where AV tools are complaining about false positives in PB executables) there.

Show your PureBasic game or application to the community and post it in the PureArea.net Showcase! So other PB users can rate and comment your project... Thanks!

Hello André,

long no see ~ and hope you're doing well :-)

I found a small typo in the german announcement:
> Es ermöglichkeit die einfache Erstellung

I'd like to leave a note:
If I'd became aware about SpiderBasic as an outsider and would be interested to know more, those two pictures and the plain "mutely" text-page as a homepage for a vibrant application don't tell me much. I'll unlikely bookmark the page to checkback if something is progressing.

It would be good to have a look at the helpfile [like you offer for PB] ... [as soon as it's halfway representativ] ... and to also give the link to the SB-forum.
At least there one becomes aware that this application is already 'active' and one has a chance to find those already existing demos.

I very much like your "Let us surprise us" :D

greets ~ Vera

addendum 23.03:

just found out by chance, that the SB-homepage has more than one page. Unfortunately the page menu doesn't show up, so there's no navigation of any kind available. I wonder how many visitors will make this experience.
