PB not created with PB?

PB not created with PB?

I read somewhere on these forums that PB was created with a combo of C(+?) and FASM... Is this true? Why is it not created fully in fasm or PB, ie' compile itself :)

Actually, it could be rewritten in PB, but I don't see the point as it would be a big waste of time. Of course maintaining the compiler core in C allow very porting on other architecture which is a good point (else you always need a startup bootstrap or a crosscompilation facility)

The portablility of PureBasic is its most atractive feature besides the many many built in functions like MD5, CRC, Compression, etc....
