small footprint 'text editor' program ?

I haven't figured out how to do this in Notepad , so :
Is there a small footprint 'text editor' program
that can be called from another program
passing to it a FIND 'text string'
so that it opens the editor at that line ?

I am hoping to find an example in PureBasic .
But none adequate in pb/Examples .

Hm ...

I only found one where you can set the line via parameter:

Search before with PB and call the editor with the line as Goto parameter.

but I need launch program with 'command line' FIND capabilities .

From your PB program, you can first determine the line number where the chain is located.

In a second step, open an editor by passing this line number.

The fastest opening lite editor I know (since 20 years) is Metapad. http://liquidninja.com/metapad/

To open it directly to a certain row (and same column) Metapad /g row:col

Command line arguments

Usage:  metapad [/i | /m | /v | /s] [/p | /g row:col | /e] [filename]

Option descriptions:
	/i - force INI mode for settings
	/m - migrate all registry settings to INI file
	/g row:col - goto position at row and column
	/e - goto end of file

It works fine until

BUT it can't Paste into FIND box .
It always pastes into the text area .

Anyone know how to gain Focus and entry to the FIND box ?
I tried all kinds of combinations , but no go .

I guess the next best thing
is to write my own simple editor
that can handle an input parameter string .
Are there any pb examples of
sending and receiving parameters .
