How to join audio and video

Hi,
I need join sound track (wav) and video (avi without sound), both have equal length to output file (not on the fly).
Can anybody help me with start this using DirectShow?

Perhaps the question has lost its validity. But if you can still interest someone, you can use FFMpeg.
If the intention is to create an editor, you can build the gui with purebasic, and leave the rest to FFMpeg.
The annoying thing is just that the application is quite big. About 100Mb.
