Phew - a lot of code! 
As an individual gadget, perhaps it should not be DPI aware - that's something to apply to the whole GUI - after all, no other gadgets are DPI aware.

Yes, DPI aware is gruel, but, it looks very clear.
Unfortunately you cannot make this gadget DPI aware afterwards.
It works with and without DPI aware compiler option, at the same.
