PureBasic crash on all my Amigas. Old version available?

Post by BalrogSoft »

Hi, i tried last AmigaOS version of PureBasic (v2.90), and have problems on all Amiga machines i tried.

On my main Amiga (an Amiga 1200, with a Blizzard PPC 603/240mhz, 060/50mhz, 96mb RAM, Workbench 3.9, KS 3.1, Mediator 1200, S3 Virge gfxboard), a lot of examples crash on my machine, PB is very unstable, it often crash my machine.

On my Amiga 600 (an Amiga 600, 2mb of Chip, 2mb of Fast, Workbench 3.1, KS 3.1) the compiler crash when it is initializing.

Exists other full versions of PB for AmigaOS to test it on my computers?

Thanks in advance.

purebasic for amiga isn't designed to work on a PPC based amiga.
it's a long known problem.

but it should work without too many problems under classic amiga.

did you tried with a blank/fresh installed workbench ?

I used to have an Amiga 1200 with a BlizzardPPC with 603 @240MHz and 68040 @25MHz with OS3.9 and PureBasic V2.90 ran fine under this setup.

I currently have a 68060 @66MHz with full FPU in my A1200 with OS3.9 and PureBasic runs fine on this too.

The only problem I have is trying to run PureBasic on OS4 where PureBasic crashes.

The only suggestions that I can make are to reinstall PureBasic, to disable any third-party software that you may be running and disable/remove any expansions that you have to see if there is a possible incompatibility somewhere.

Kind regards,

Francis.

@ BalrogSoft

I've just had a look and I have PureBasic 2.32 and PureBasic 1.30 on floppy.

Fred would probably wrap my knuckles though if I were to give them out without permission.

Incidentally, I was the first (only?) person ever to ask for the full version of PureBasic on disk rather than as a download.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Thanks to all, i installed PB before install WB3.1 (i had WB 2.1 previously), and it don't work, i will try to install again and see what happen. Anyway i'm learning a lot of ASM these days, i only want to use PB to make some GUI's for my favourite apps, like Moovid.

On my A1200 PB Editor and Compiler works great, but the executables generated don't work very nice.

Do you use MCP or any other System Enhancements ? ( Oxypatcher, shapeshifter etc. ) ?

2.90 runs fine on my A4000/060/604e-200 CyberStormPPC / CV-3D under AmigaOS 3.9 .. tho wtb PPC support ;)

I assume that you have also replaced the Kickstart ROMs with 3.1, otherwise that would cause problems if you're installing Workbench 3.1.
