Hello,

I just read in another forum that Ogre have a few problems and progs like PB using it could be stuck with this.

Then I read on Ogre site they just joined Softimage in a partnership.

Can somebody (Fred?) tell me frankly what's going on with Ogre for now and the next future ?

Thanks, it works fine now.

The error was not where I thought it was (using badly var Filename) , I should have created a new buffer for byte to wide conversion.

But, even after reading the "MultiByteToWideChar " in the Win32 Programmer's Reference Help, I am not sure to understand ...

Still trying to make my computer speaking.

The example below mixing Danilo and FlowHimself work should be able to speech a file.txt choosen in my directory.

The answer is this is reading the adress of the file "C: ......... file.txt" !

The ComDx library from Danilo included in the full PB package in april 2002 has gone as I can read in a few posts on the forum. And it is not included anymore in his PureTools1021.

I am working on a tut for chess with "text to speech" and found 2 posts from Danilo helpful on the subject ...

Need some help according to this topic.

The code below is from one PB's coder but I can't remember who, sorry.

For my starting in PB I have changed & cancelled some stuff to see how things are working. Anyhow the prog was working perfectly under PB 3.81 after my changing. Test it.

Now under 3.89 ...

So far I understand with PB 3.89 things in memory are working as below :

*Pointer=AllocateMemory(BufferSize)
FreeMemory(*Pointer)

but UseMemory() is removed,

What is the way to "replace" this one ?

Can you give me an example ?

Fiwip: don't just copy & paste. Unpack the zip to a seperate folder, and run the updatetool from there.


I erase the one I did with copy/paste, install a new 3.81 properly and did exactly what you explain.

Now when I run PB directly or through JaPbe ...

With all do respect.. I think the updates suck. I would prefer a regular
install with any version, beta or not. Come talk to me, I'll keep this
thought for a LONG time..

2 points:

1/ I bought a 3.81 just a few weeks ago and I did recieve a login and password for connection and further downloads. Anyhow, this does not work. Message is always "Invalid password or user account".

2/ to install PB 3.89 beta 2, informations are to install over a registered version ...
