One of the very best resources I have found for Ubuntu:

http://www.getautomatix.com/

When setting up a new box, it's absolutely invaluable.

Hi,
Have a look in the string section of the help file for: StringField()

Trying to help ... I am not using Fedora though wink: ( i know other distro better). It was not against you, don't worry, it was against the complexity of Linux :)
And of the fact that I think Linux is bloated without being bloated (my Mandrake take 2GB on the hard drive, but I still have to use ...

Hummm... although I've always been a Mandrake fan, today I decided to install Xandros Desktop for a trial run.

The PB command line compiler works just fine, but I can't get the new IDE to run at all. :?

Maybe I'm missing some libs or something... any ideas?

Yepper, the gtk2 thing most likely is the problem. Maybe someone else can verify...

And, yes, the first thing I compiled after getting everything setup, was the "gadgetfull.pb" example. It compiles and runs with no probs. :)

Btw, I *did* run the new IDE on Mandrake aand that is some very nice work ...

As a (almost full time) Linux user, this is by far one of the most interesting and useful projects I've seen in quite a while!

the biggest challenge seems to be setting up the network bridge.

I'm using a wireless connection so I've been unable to get the network bridge working.... still though ...

PC crash... Bummer!

Last night I finally finished getting my desktop box set up *exactly* the way I wanted it (again)... several days worth of work.

Dual boot with Mandrake 10 and XP, PureBasic running on both O/S's (primarily Linux) and was even making some headway on a new app that I had started. Today it crashed ...

Never mind, disregard the message above!!

...apparently sometime during the manual package selection process, I must have deselected the gtk lib without realizing it.

Like always, it works just fine when you have all the required libs installed.

I've run into what appears to be a config problem with GTK on my Mandrake 10.0 box and thought that maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

After installing PB, I can run pbcompiler and get:
$ pbcompiler

I'm not really sure how you can stumble across a post from a year ago! What the hell? :-)

It's easy.
Start browsing to catch up, run across something of interest with news to add and fire away. Who looks at dates anyway? Otherwise it's known as open mouth, insert foot.
