Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

You may be better of using libjpeg directly yourself. Image saving in PB isnt very great. It's ok, but if you need something fancy you need to go deeper. Same goes for PNG. Naturally you dont have a quallity lose in PNG, but PNG's saved with PB are much bigger than saved with other software because ...

Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

We use standard libjpeg so I don't know why the results are bad.

Dear Fred, thank you for the improvements in v5.10.
But I'm a little disappointed, cause I really need accurate jpeg output.
You didnt answer my message, I'm sure you're too busy, but now after release of 5.10 final..

Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

Oooh, good comeback. :) I have no argument now. ;)
Some time ago there was a strange guy called Maya.
He developed a handy little calendar-tool, able to calculate Doomsday (and it shows all years statutory holidays, too!).
Of course he used Purebasic.
Unfortunately he saved the calendar's output ...

Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

yep - the Text 'Test-Image' is for testing only (when saved to jpg you see that there's something wrong easily).
Originally I discovered the problem with a (more real life 8)) Photo.

And I'm sure there is a good solution for this. (Example: Using 'LibJPEG none chroma-subsampling (4:4:4)' when ...

Thanks for response.
Ok, with this information I tested some more, and it definitely has something to do with Color/Chroma Subsampling.
Is the latest version of Libjpeg used in PB5 ? There must/may be some option controlling the ...

Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

Problem still exists in Version 5.0.
I'm sorry, but the "Save to Jpg Functionality" is quite important, I really think something must happen here (soon)

Re: Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

In my experience saved jpg's with quality level >= 8 look quite good. What exactly is not satisfying? Maybe you can post an image to reproduce it?
(I had to look for a free image-hoster first..)

Poor Jpg Quality - SaveImage, #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG

I would really like to get better results saving jpg-images (SaveImage using #PB_ImagePlugin_JPEG, and Flags=10).
With a quality setting of max (10) its not satisfying getting poor results.. (picture size is less important with a max quality setting..).
(It looks like Chroma Subsampling is used all ...

Re: Delphi XE2

Bottom line. Talking about Delphi is really off topic... but its just ugly, slow and causes migraine.
Purebasic is the best, the sooner you realize that the better for man kind.
Delphi slow ? Ridiculous. Its produces extremely well optimized code (in most cases). Of course if you're into graphics ...

Re: PureBasic 4.60 beta 3

I LOVE the new Commands CreateLine3D,CreateCube,CreateSphere,CreateCylinder,CreatePlane..
maybe some more predefined Meshes would be useful. (at least CreateArrow() could come in very handy).
(And one more request : Backspace Unindent .. - you can see how it works e.g. in the Lazarus Editor('Options ...

Re: PureBasic 4.50 is out !

Maybe using the equal sign for two different purposes isn't such a good idea.
C and PHP solves the problem by using "=" as the assignment operator and "==" as the comparison operator.
Pascal solves the problem by using := as the assignment operator and = as the comparison operator.
Both remove the ...
