Thanks for the suggestions. Using BindEventGadget() did not change anything, though it was a good refresher for me. I looked again. There is some light controls loading in this procedure. So I commented out any line that affected the state of a control but still get the blanking. ~40 visible ...

While we are at it, I need to do the same thing with a .pdf file. Both .txt and .pdfs preview easily in Finder. Hopefully this is also a runprogram solution?
