The idea of giving away the software and selling support for it makes a certain amount of sense. ...

I wonder if the indie language market is big enough for a pay-for-support model, especially when a site like CodingMonkeys is going to provide support for free?

On another topic, I wonder if it ...

Does anyone know much about Paul's work history?

When I first learned about Aurora and Ionic Wind, Paul was unemployed, but seems like I remember reading something about him fixing slot machines.

After a while, he got a job as some sort of technician, working with liquid nitrogen or something. I ...

Why are people so interested in knowing different compilers?

For me, there are several reasons.

My primary interest is in finding a lightweight cross-platform programming language. By lightweight, I mean I want to create an application that exists as one file (a single executable), requires no ...

I'm having a difficult time making sense of all this.

First Paul Turley announces he is shutting down the Ionic Wind site because he is not making enough money from it. He makes it sound like he can't even cover his domain renewal and hosting costs (which is probably less than $100 USD per year ...

Well, Paul has made up his mind. EBasic and Aurora are now FREEWARE:
http://www.ionicwind.com/

... and what is he saying about continued development and support?

My understanding is that he was shutting down the site because he wasn't making enough money from it. Does making his products ...

I was permanently banned from the Ionic Wind forums, and now can not even access the forums as "Guest". Only registered users may access the forum.

So, as a licensed user of Aurora and Emergence, I am not allowed access to the support forum.

One thing to keep in mind: The Partner Devs were told in the very beginning that they have the right to continue the development of Aurora should the company pass away (this was answered to those concerned about the future of the company after what happened to Pixia.) Whether Paul likes it or not ...

Re: Ionic Wind shutting down?

Doesn't surprise me one bit. All i can say is i feel sorry for the people who have been ripped off by him. I too have been permanently banned for telling him exactly what i thought of his begging and lack of progress. I know for a fact that many of the users over there, helped paul out when he was ...

Ionic Wind shutting down?

Paul Turley has stated his intent to shut-down the Ionic Wind web site at the end of October. Apparently, he will discontinue any further development of his Aurora and Emergence products.

I have no further information as I have been permanently banned from the site after voicing my opinion on what ...
