Thank you all for the answers. I wonder what would be the easiest way since I noticed the problem far in the project and I have more than 300 images.

I'll try your suggestions for sure.

Thank you

Do you mean like the image is indexed or rgb etc... If that's what you mean then I verified it since it was causing problems earlier when it was indexed.

I will try your trick for sure it's just that I don't have the problem machines at home so I'm making a list of things to try for when I'll go ...

Problem with transparent sprite

I'm having problems with the transparent color in my project. Ive set it to pure green 0,255,0 and it is working most of the time. But on a couple of machines the green is showing rendering the app unusable. I resize the screen in 800x600,16bpp with the Screenex library by the way. I'v tried ...

Thread Client/Server

Hi,

I chose to go for a threaded client/server topology for a small mmorpg project. Not a thread per client though but one to receive, one to send and the main prog for the rest. It's like the post office model.

The way I see it is this:
- I check events in main loop and put them in variables that ...

@CodeMonger: No I never installed the DirectX SDK. My sound card is a PCI Aureal MX300. That card has a couple of special issues, the most important being that the company went bye bye, so there is no more support.

I found many who had the same problems that I had :

1- When playing a game, the ...

@LarsG: Actually, everytime I started something using DirectX, my sound card would act up and the hiccups would appear. Every game would cause the sound and hiccup problem. Even old tech 2d games like the great URW did the same. And back in purebasic, regarless of windowed or fullscreen mode, the ...

Ok, I thought it was time to investigate on my poping sound problem because I began to believe more and more it was related.

What I discovered was that Winblows XP, in all its ACPI glory, had put on the IRQ 9 bandwagon, 2 network cards, graphic card, sound card, PCI-ISA bridge and a couple of other ...

@Codemonger : I tried most of your suggestions without success. But when I tested the isometric sample on another computer, I found that the problem was not visible. The other machine is a little slower than mine (Athlon700, 256 mb RAM and a NVIDIA TNT2). So there you have it, I probably have a ...

Tried the delay, I can make it go slower but still jerky. Running from the compiled app does the same thing. And no other DirectX programs that I know of.

I must say though that I have troubles between my sound card and DirectX. After I start anything in purebasic or other DirectX game, the sound ...

@Moonshine: Yes, I realize that. That is why I searched better coded :) examples that exibit the same problem. This is the isometric sample by aaron that I last tried: http://forums.purebasic.com/english/viewtopic.php?t=12351. Is this smooth on your part?

@PB: I tried it and I think I see small ...

2D performance problem

I made a 2d tile scrolling engine for my mmorpg project. Simple and unoptimized just 2 FORs inside wich I display the appropriate tile with a pixeloffset for a pixel smooth scrolling.

It works ok but it is not smooth. I tried to optimize my routine and even simpilfy it to always display the same ...

I'm toying with my mmorpg project network code. I first built upon a simple chat server and I was having lag and coordinates inconsistencies with just two players.

Then I saw this thread on threads :) and I tested it with a friend. I run the server localy and me and my friend connect on it.

Is ...

It can be fun for some people to tinker on old tech things and I don't think they find it a waste of time or at least a fun one :)

Some drivers here : http://ulihansen.kicks-ass.net/speaker/index2.htm

Oh and I just remembered, Alone in the dark on my VGA 286's PC speaker was great!!
