The simple test i described almost scans the filehandling performance. I was surprised too that crossover (wine) is much slower than parallels.

The new crossover update to 6.10 from yesterday is no more PureBasic friendly. Compiled executables won't start, also started code from ide. Now crossover ...

Simple performance test of PureBasic on an intel mac

I made a first test with beta 1 on a mac book pro (core duo, 1,87 GHz).

The simple task: Converting a csv text data file with 448.327 data records, each record contains 12 data columns. If a column contains no data, an underline character will be added. The csv-file has a lenght of 44 MB.

I ...

Strange, because a simple modification in the menu.pb example works.

Check the following:

1. Don't use a MenuItem()-Command for creating a quit-entry, because Mac OS X will always do that alone.

The only modification needed in your program is adding a check in the event loop for selection of the ...

These constants are declared in PureBasic 3.94 for mac. Maybe they are not part of PB4 by now and it's a todo for the next alpha.

I made a check with the menu.pb program in the examples section. When i quit the program with the menu selection, the message requester told that menuitem -1 was ...

Yes, it's the first generation mac book pro with the intel core duo.

In the thread-link below look at the example code of MacWndTest.pb at the bottom of the page.

In addition, i found a post from Fred on Jul 11, 2005:

3 new constants have been added for menu: #PB_Menu_Quit, #PB_Menu_About and #PB ...

Starting browser windows by clicking the middle icon - ok
entering the shortcuts and searching - ok
searching without an input -> Messagebox - ok

You're in right, chen. The best solution is a clean native PureBasic for Mac OS X and not a windows emulation.

Until the native mac port is not available there are several workarounds. The disadvantage of parallels and vmware for a mac user is that you have to start the whole windows operating ...

Good news: With the actual beta of "CrossOver" the Installation of PureBasic 4.02 finished without errors. It's possible to edit and compile Sourcecode, only the graphic icons under the menu line are invisible. The visual designer also seems to work. Happy new year!

@CSAUER:
Look at the readme.html, there is one sentence in red letters:
"Important Warning: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN WINDOWS APPLICATION USING IT ON POWERPC HARDWARE USING THIS RELEASE."

The sample demo files in the ppc version are ppc-compiled windows files made with the darwine sdk for xcode ...

Running native PB-programs on X86-Macs

Maybe something of interest: The darwine project (http://darwine.opendarwin.org) released some time ago a mac port of wine, the linux runtime environment for windows programs.

I tested the X86-compilation, which is easy to install and configurate: Purebasic4 itself doesn't install, but some ...

Unless the VisualDesigner ist not available for OS X, it is helpfull to use PureBasic in real "multiplatform"-mode: VisualDesigner on windows for the layout, then using the generated output with the program structure on OS X for further development.
This prevents you to handle with errors if you ...

FontRequester("Courier", -13, 0)
Fontname$=SelectedFontName()

If OpenWindow(0, 216, 50, 626, 100, #PB ...

There is a bug with ToolBarStandardButton. No icons displayed:

If OpenWindow(0, 0, 0, 150, 25, #PB_Window_SystemMenu |#PB_Window_ScreenCentered, "ToolBar")
If CreateToolBar(0, WindowID())

maybe i found something for update:

I Installed a mysql database with the odbc driver from
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10609
and configured the odbc driver with the administrator program in the utilities section as an mysqql_odbc entry.

The following code were used:
