Aha! Thanks! That did the trick!
But since this worked in v5.70 I assume something regarding this was changed in v.6? But perhaps is was not related to the Mouse-command itself but rather other stuff?
I also tried a similar test-code that uses just about the same loops and has the exact same ...

Changes to mousecontrols in PB 6 ?
Hi,
I recently came back to PB after a while now and started by doing a PB upgrade to 6.02 only to discover some things that don´t work as before.
One of those things is Mouse control functions. In my case I use MouseDeltaX() and MouseDeltaY().
When I run my old testcode below, in PB v6.02, the ...

Re: 3D problem with new computer and PB installation
Change the InitEngine3D() command in the example source into InitEngine3D(#PB_Engine3D_DebugLog) and examine ogre.log.
I just tried this with "DirectX11" as subsystem and there are no errors in the ogre.log file.
There are about 30 lines and these 2 are the last:

Re: 3D problem with new computer and PB installation
For me, I get the error above in my original post when I have "DirectX11" listed as sybsystem.
But games that use HW3D and DirectX11 works on this computer so why doesn´t PB work for me?
If I put "DirectX9", then it works, but not 11.

Re: 3D problem with new computer and PB installation
Thanks for your replies.
I got it to work when I cleared the value in Compiler Options and Library Subsystems.
I was also wrong about "DirectX11" being a default value in PB. Atleast in PB v6.02 a blank value is the default.
I learned that the compiler options are saved individually in the .pb code ...

3D problem with new computer and PB installation
Hi,
I just installed the latest PB(6.02) to date on a Win10 laptop, and when I run something that has the InitEngine3D() command I get the error "The 3D Engine can´t be initialized".
I have not had PB installed on this machine before. The default compiler subsystem is "DirectX11" and my laptop is ...

Which is the best technique for drawing "2D" in front?
Hi,
As the headline states I´m trying to figure out the best way to have 2D graphics drawn in front of lots of 3D graphics, without caring about the resolution.
One example for this would be a control panel to a game. It could sit at the bottom of the screen and have buttons and other info on it ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Ok, now I´m back to my original problem. Which was, how to create shadows in my box without showing the side that´s creating the shadows.
And as BinoX said, set the texture to 100% transparency which will create shadows.
I have tried many different ways of doing this but I can´t manage it.

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Ok, I have now tried your latest example on my other machine and still get two different results randomly.
I only use the setting "WorldShadows(#PB_Shadow_TextureModulative, 0, RGB(127, 127, 127), 4096)".
Seems to work as it should directly after I start PB and after a while, the error(can´t see ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
There´s some weird things going on with my computer. I can get the same as in your picture "sometimes"!? Mostly not. It can differ between compiles even if I don´t alter anything.
So you are probably correct that my gfx-cards are not fully compatible.
I´m using a laptop that has two gfx-cards ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Nice with the ground texture. Really helps showing what you can see or not through the textures and shadow.
And this is getting weird. With #PB_Shadow_TextureModulative, All transparencies are there except for when the vertical worldmap shows its outside to the camera. Then the Geebee doesn´t show ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Interesting example! Thanks for that!
I didn´t know that you can set different materials to submeshes. That way it´s still one entity, which is excellent.
But I think it still has the same problem with polygon sorting. Atleast for me on my machine. When the vertical side which has the transparent ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
I don't know what to tell you. For me, it's a bit of a guessing game without seeing your code.
Well, if can you produce a simple cube where all sides are textured from a 32-bit TGA-file, where 5 sides are fully non-transparent(pixelvalue in alpha=255) and one side has some transparency(random mix ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Ok,
I replaced "depth_write off" and "colour_op alpha_blend", with "cull_hardware none" and "cull_software none", but that didn´t help.
It just displays everything as it was before I added the alphachannel. Plus added backfaces to every polygon.
Can we confirm that it´s not possible to mix textures ...

Re: Need help with 3D technique.
Thanks for your answer.
"depth_write on" is needed for alpha blending otherwise you'll get the fun house mirrors
But when I set this to ON I don´t get any alpha blending at all. Does this mean that I cannot use alphatextures on complex meshes since it messes things up?
Seems really stupid if this ...
