Re: Purebasic and Windows 98

@skywalk
Thats a nice idea, but if Linux get a problem, im pretty much stuck. I can solve everything pretty much when deadling with Windows.
Indeed the PB code would work on linux, as the tool is only a date select/reminder/save/timer thingy.

Nice info about botnet, actually I'll only connect to ...

Purebasic and Windows 98

Hi everybody,

Wondering if anybody know which version of PureBasic was the last to support Windows 98?
I have a old computer I need to create a reminder software for, so didn't check right now if even PB5.70 would work?

Re: Get default window background color for transparency, al

I've always used

Code: Select all

 StartDrawing(WindowOutput(0))
        win_back_color=Point(0,0)
   StopDrawing()
To set background color of editor gadget (or others) to same as window color :-)

Re: Wierd bytes $3F in the middle of chars 0-255

Yeah, you are all right. ASCII is 0-127, 7-bit. Its just that my memories from the good old Commodore 64 and Amiga steered me into the belief of ASCII 0-255 :-)

Anyway, I solved my problems by using *ascii=Ascii() and then PokeA(*ascii) in PureBasic to get the values I was seeking. I was working ...

Re: Wierd bytes $3F in the middle of chars 0-255

@kenmo Thanks for the clarification!

So, if I understand this correctly. I thought ASCII is 0-255. And UNICODE was >255 to whatever millions of chars they need to create later.

How they ended up eating a HOLE into standard ASCII 0-255 and basically say "lets do a best fit here instead" is ...

Wierd bytes $3F in the middle of chars 0-255

Hi there,

Try this code in PB5.60:

For t=0 To 255
string$=string$+RSet(Str(t),3,"0")+"|"
Next t

CreateFile(2,"d:\wierd.txt",#PB_Ascii)

For t=0 To 255
WriteString(2,Chr(Val(Left(StringField(string$,t+1,"|"),3))),#PB_Ascii)
Next t
CloseFile(2)

Re: Strange directory output, isn't the same?

Yes, into an array it works as intended, sorting works. I tried that too.

However, for my routine I simply wanted to use the OS own sorting of filenames to get stuff sorted "for free" just by reading the directory 1-by-1.
With your approach one have to add more code + spend time on sorting.

Its ...

Strange directory output, isn't the same?

Hi there,

I have 4 files in a directory on Windows 7 64bit English:

franç.txt
franš.txt
franþ.txt
ranã.txt

In a normal directory via windows standard explorer or Total Commander they are listed exactly in that order assumingly sorted alphabetically, while purebasic's Examinedirectory manages to ...

Re: StringGadget graphical bug on 4 in width

Heh, thanks for investigating. Problem is that when border is removed, I loose that 3d Bevel effect splitter line i was looking for :-)

I had to use 5 in value instead of 4 to get my 3d bevel splitter-ish line. For those who want to create a white flag style automatically for free without any ...

StringGadget graphical bug on 4 in width

Hi,

Using PB5.60 (x86)

OpenWindow(0,0,0,500,200,"bug width")
StringGadget(0,10,10,1,100,"")
StringGadget(1,100,10,2,100,"")
StringGadget(2,200,10,3,100,"")
StringGadget(3,300,10,4,100,"") ; this one adds a vertical white area?! Looks like a flag.
StringGadget(4,400,10,5,100,"")
Repeat
event ...

Re: ListViewGadget - What wrong with this code

Hi Leodh,

Can't believe why anybody didn't respond to this, as my investigations for the past 4 days reveal a major bug or did I do something wrong?
Anyway, this code explains how to get listview to update both list and scrollbars, if items are added or deleted.

Naturally I come from a Windows ...

Don't know if this happened or not?

But would really like to see an option for DrawText command to force the cleartype off at will (regardless of what user has). To me, cleartype is horrible technology, I can see clearly all those orange and blue pixels. Don't know how Microsoft came to this ...

[quote]Hey, a lightwave fan !
A loooong time ago, I needed a converter and found this one. So far, I've not used it for years and I don't know if it works with the new lw version (I found it OK with 11.5 if I remember). The source code was included. I'm still hosting the last working version, take a ...
