Hi,

I think, the only one who knows the way PureBasic will go in future will be Fred and, maybe, his team. It is ok, but sometimes I am so impressed about this great language that I simply think that every developer in the world need to know about. :)

Maybe Fred decides to leave everything like it is, so it is ok for me. Sometimes I point other developers and customers to the PureBasic homepage and this is the moment I would like to see a little more prefessionality. It simply has the look of some kind of "geek" language instead of the really great development tool it really is. Maybe Fred decides to invest some time into a redesign of the official homepage? I'm sure that some forum-user will help to design the needed graphics. Another one will be good in setting up the CMS and is able to do that?

I just had some time, so I decided to try by myself. I'm not a designer or graphics-guru, but for about one hour - I think it's ok. It is by far not complete and the colors and the layout needs surely some tweaking, but I have no more time in the next days, so I leave it in this stage.

I needed the PB gears for the header logo, so I used Maxxon Cinema to fastly re-create them on the fly. Maybe someone could make use of that?

To make it clear: The current way of PB is ok for me. But sometimes I wish the PB homepage would be a little bit more professional looking. Thats all. I love this programming-language and tools.

Kukulkan's screenshot is very good ! I dont really like the 'Windows/Linux/etc...' but I love the background !!
This is a pretty good start, in fact, why not should we make the website ourselves, according to Fred's comment ? ;)

I wish I had a 10th of your artistic ability!

If I had attempted to whip something up quick it would have been a joke and painful on the senses

Thank you for the commendation, but this is only a raw concept. I think, the first page should point out some important links (in big letters) additional to the common links in the navigation:

1. Why PureBasic
2. Technical Information
3. Support and Help
4. Download Demoversion

This may be the most important things that new users (developers and customers of developers) on this page will need and search. Maybe someone finds one or two other important items I currently forgot.

So, the first link should explain the benefits of PureBasic against other popular programming languages (no Runtimes/Framework, portability, great productivity, visual designer and integrated development environment in Windows, Linux and MacOS, etc.). This is important to developers and their customers, too. This is, how PureBasic differs from others.

The second link should explain all the technical stuff to the developers that are interested in the language. Here are informations about the syntax, the speed, compilation, extensions, platforms, debugging etc. In a short way.

The third link points to different support- and help-sources for users who downloaded the demo and having their first problems (natural behaviour).

The fourth link is for advertisement of the demo-version. A lot of first-time PureBasic visitors may click this link to test the new programming language.

This is just my humble opinion. This will help PureBasic to grow naturally without spending money to advertising. Projects like OpenOffice, Mozilla or KDE have shown, that a good website-design will help to increase acceptance of a product even if it is not commercial (or even professional  ).

Ah, for those who liked the gears, I rendered a 1280x1024 pixel version and uploaded using lossless BMP here: http://www.x-beliebig.info/Grafik/Gears.bmp (about 4MB!). You can use it like you want.

@Kukulkan
Is it possible for you to render the gears with a transparent background and save it as PNG?

Kukulkan it would be healthy to have a logo for use games (for those who really loves pyrebasic) with an inscription "Powered by PureBasic ".

You could make it?

I wish to insert it into the game and game of the friend which we shall expose on computer festival.

One of the most important parts of a frontpage would be a link to the forum, as this is where most aspiring buyers will quickly end up (at least it's what I do) to check how good the package is. Endless complaints are a good indication of loads of troubles :-)

Now I can only say that this forum has been an incredible help, so I think it would be a serious incentive to buy AND USE PureBasic...

History repeating ...

We have such threads about a website relaunch almost twice a year. A lot of people (me included) made several design concepts for a new website. The result was always the same like it will be here, NULL. You all have good intentions but this will unfortuneatly lead nowehere as long as Fred doesn't realize the serious need of a professional website as well as the introduction of basic marketing strategies.
