Purpose: The idea behind this poll is to get an overview of who is using Purebasic, which kind of software is programmed with it and what part of PureBasic could be improved.
The poll isn't meant to be valid/relevant at all times. It's rather a snap-shot of what the PureBasic community does/thinks/wishes at the very moment of 2012.

Duration: Currently it's planned to keep this poll open for at least 1 month depending on the feedback and how many participate. The results will be published afterwards.

Please spread the word so that as many PureBasic developers participate as possible! Post this poll in your favorite "non-official" PureBasic forums as well. Use these automatic translations if needed:

Note: (Currently) this poll is not official. In fact I (c4s, who initiated most of it with inspiration of this thread) didn't hear anything good nor bad about it from the Fantaisie Software Team (Fred, Freak & Co.). However, the good side of this is that it's assured that the poll isn't biased or censored or whatever.

Anyway, enough text blabla... Please participate, and let as many PureBasic developers know about it as possible so we can hopefully get a reasonable overview. I'm very excited about the results and I hope you are too... 8)

Edit (01.04.2012) :
Closed the poll and removed/replaced the participation links.

For what it's worth I compiled it, but I find the "what kind of software do you develop" list ridiculously long and I don't see the benefit of such a level of precision (resulting in a heavily fragmented response).

:)

Why they should, they can have a good idea about what people would like to have and why looking in the specific section of the forum.

Probably on Google. They generate all sorts of diagrams with a push of a button. However, technically it could be published with any other diagram tool as well...

Well, I'm interested in it too! Even if they don't care I think it's worth for the community. This way we can hopefully understand what the PureBasic community actually is. I don't think a poll of this kind was ever made for PureBasic, so I'm very excited to see some results! I mean I found it very interesting from the other small poll how many seem to use PureBasic for commercial purposes... did you know that?!

That's a fair point. However each list item belongs to a main category. This way it can be split up.

I took the poll. It could be of interest for Fred. If not, it only took a minute of my time. ;)

Exactly, I think it would be good of people to take the survey. It's no effort at all!

When will you be releasing the results?
I'm especially interested in all the answers for the last question.

...by the way, took part as well...

OK, the poll is now open for one week and about 160 developers have participated so far. 8)

However, I feel like there are a lot more PureBasic users in Russia, China, South America etc... Where are you? Please participate as well!

Another week has past... (how time flies  )
So what's the current count of participations? About 215!

I still think that there are more PureBasic users in Russia, China, South America etc. Unfortunately - compared to the last week - there are no new participations from those countries. Where are you? Your vote is important to get a good overview of the whole PureBasic community!

If it was Fred and Freak who had created the poll wanting to get product feedback, then yes it *might* be worth doing... Otherwise, please enlighten me as to what use my vote or anybody else's would be? Because without the developers backing, interest or participation it seems pretty meaningless. I seriously doubt that the outcome of this poll or any other means of stick waving are going to influence the direction the language takes.

I genuinely mean no offence c4s, I am just confused why you consider this to be so important.

No, I think (hope?) that the effort I'm putting into this isn't wasted because I'm pretty sure that the team won't ignore obvious results.
It isn't a massive feature request thingy anyway! It rather a mood-o-meter which simply shows them where to set priorities: If the poll clearly says that we want/need something of XYZ then implementing ABC can wait.

Also - as I said before - I think it's good to see who the PureBasic developers are and what we do. I really have to admit that I never thought that so much of us are creating commercial applications (as the previous, smaller poll has shown). This kind of information is interesting and it gets even more interesting when we see what kind of application is actually developed...
