Yessir, I have been watching this for a while, sounds great to experiment with.

If it runs Fedora, it should run PureBasic, right? I want to combine RPi + PB into a little $25 game console 8) But I will probably wait a few months for the commotion to settle down -- and for any hardware/software issues to arise.

There seems to be a lot of backlash at the big announcement this morning, that they are selling them indirectly through some distributors (without worldwide shipping?) whose servers have been getting crushed, and the stock is already out....... but really, if the RPi group had handled all sales directly, they would still have run out right away, the boards could only ship from one location, and their servers would be even weaker. So I don't get the anger... (although I guess those who previously donated weren't guaranteed access to the first shipped batch? That's no fun for them.)

I don't think so, it has an ARM processor.

The Raspberry Pi looks amazing, can't wait to buy one ;) I also think PureBasic should work on an ARM version.

Oh yeah, duh. Good thing I didn't dwell too long on that idea. :)

@J I think I read that there will be encased versions later this year.

You should have zero issues creating a case from an off the shelf electronics project case.

Interesting, should be much better than the pic processor stuff, but I could not get any detailed info, because the site has too much traffic for the time being.

I guess creating a custom case would be kind of fun. :D

I think it is a safe bet that in a couple of months there will be some third-party cases released. I have already seen a couple of rough designs floating around. The cases might end up costing as much as, if not more than, the RaspberryPi.

Who's going to code them for you?

You can code the stuff yourself or just install Linux on it and use any Linux ARM software. The RaspberryPi is in fact a full fledged computer based on a ARM11 CPU.

Like my friend Kuron up there, I too will be purchasing a few of these. I have some very interesting projects lined up with the old Raspberry Pi in mind :P

got me a Raspberry Pi, the 35 dollar one, cool as hell,

Get two SD cards (its your Harddrive on thr Pi) if you buy one though, you'll want both Rasbian OS and RaspBMC, One for a windows like OS, the other for watching videos and Movies, also get the Mpeg Codec, its like 3 bucks, helps in watchin more video formats.

AND IF YOU WANT TO USE MORE THAN TWO USB PORTS, GET A SELF POWERED HUB!. cant stress that enough! it has to be self powered. Amazon has cheap ones.
And a good 5 volt power supply for the Pi, check Raspberry Pis site, low ones tend to lag the comp!.

They also sell cool cases for it. Mines all open, I like looking at the processor working lol, jk

And I've already made two posts about it, but will say again, be cool if we had Pure-Pi WC, thats Whipped Cream Edition, might as well be like Droid OS's and come up with silly names.

Be a subset of Purebasic, maybe not fully compatible with Purebasic PC/linux/Mac, but just as easy to use and as powerful!

peace Out programmers
