That doesn't apply to customer service.

Yep. I think we've all been patient long enough. I don't think PureBasic is dead, but the team is treating their paying customers with utter contempt now. Enough is enough. Time to post an official comment, even if it's just something as short as "sorry for the delay, the new version is still underway". JUST DON'T IGNORE US ANY LONGER! :evil:.

We certainly understand about any personal issues Freak, you owe us no explanation about that. We hope you understand that some of us have been burnt before, and we're necessarily a bit gun shy. This is made all the more urgent because of the faith we have in the product, and in the development team.

While you are in the process of handling your personal issues, if you could just take a few minutes and give us a status update, we can then all climb down from our respective roof ledges, sigh a big relief, and get back to work.

Thanks so much!

Seriously, if it's to write something like this, without any informations just think twice and hold your hand. Development of PureBasic is not discontinued, do you really think we will stop a 10 year more development like this, without any explainations ? The 4.60 version is on its way and should be released early in september, with some beta in between. It takes a while as i have a lot of docs to do for the new commands, and believe it or not: i don't like writing docs ;). Moreover we both have a daily job since the beginning of the year, so it means less time for PB. It's not the first time i handle both a daily job and PB (did that 5 years over the 10 years of dev), without big impact. We do our best to keep a correct pace of development, but sometimes it's difficult to get back on coding after a full coding day. That's life. I will probably get back fulltime on PB somewhen, so big changes will happen here.

What I have said before is still true: if I have to quit PB for any reasons, I will release the sources, either in Open Source form, or to a closed community which will be able to drive the project. We are not the kind of men which don't keep our words, so please, don't panic if you don't have news from us for a few time.

Well that statement will keep us quiet for a while :)

I'm just glad to see the activity in the bugs forum with the fixed posts.

Definitely good news - so future's lookin' bright again. I was really fearing that I'd have to switch to another language to be able to ensure the continuation of my job-related projects ... and I really have to defend my decision for Purebasic nearly every single day against PB-bashers surrounding me - and no, I'm not haunted ;-)

Cheers,
Didel.

@Fred
Thanks for explaining! You both still have to forgive us for being worried after nearly 3 month of no development nor a real explanation during the current beta period.

That said, I'd like to have a clearer note from you in the Announcement section like "The development is on hold for the next X weeks because of XYZ." in future situations like this. Freaks pretty late comment, inside another thread, only after repeated request was a little confusing...
If any of you native English speakers have any suggestions for the above text, please let me know (via PM). Thanks!

:shock: It is downright scary what a couple of smart guys can do in their 'spare' time.
