Some words from the PB-Team would be nice

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

Some words from the PB-Team would be nice

Post by Marco2007 »

Hi PB-Team,

would you give us some short informations about the work?
How is it going on with the development? It doesn`t have to be a novel
and you need to tell us the surprises. Just a short and quick info would be nice.

Advertising would not cause a damage.
I think, it would be also helpful to get new customers, if you promote a little bit more :-)

lg
Marco

PS: I know, you dont like it, but it`s very quiet here today and I`m nosy...

You may have noticed Fred tagging bugs as [done] in the last few weeks.... that is a giveaway that stuff is happening. They've already released the roadmap for the next release.
Fred the rockstar wrote:Roadmap to 4.30:

The work on the promised Ogre update has already started and will continue on full speed now.
This will be the big focus of the 4.30 release. (apart from maybe some surprises from my side, who knows ? Wink)

Apart from that, the Windows x64 and OSX x86 versions are comming along well,
and will enter the private alpha phase quite soon.
With some luck, there will be a 4.30 for these systems as well.
From here : http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... ht=roadmap

I don't know what the exact schedule is, but my guess is that things are rolling along pretty good when Fred and the crew start fixing bugs. I think that likely means that the new features have been added and the kinks are being worked out. :D

I know that. But what I wanted to know is, if we have to wait maybe a year for the next version or it`s maybe coming soon,
because Fred and Freak fixed really a lot and there will be no minor versions anymore. I prefer doing apps with a better version.
What`s the problem with: Next version ist planned for autumn?

There are many wishes in Feature Requests and Wishlists....just some comments would be nice.
And it would be a good promotion!

Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

Under normal circumstances we would have probably released a minor update inbetween, but we made
some internal changes for 4.30 which makes releasing a bugfix only version impossible at the moment.

We are in the middle of alpha testing. It shouldn't be too long before the first public beta.
But as usual, we don't give a fixed date. Its done when its done.

As for the features:
Fred already talked about the roadmap. There is nothing more to say for the moment.

@Freak & Fred:
Do you think, the "4.20 Userlibs" will still work with 4.30?
Is there a big change like mid() from 4.10 to 4.20?
When 4.20 came out, Freak told us on the German forum, that "4.10 Tailbite-created Userlibs"
will be incompatible with 4.20: http://www.purebasic.fr/german/viewtopi ... 859#181859

thanx

Well, it`s not very critical (but good to know), coz I can include Esgrid and PurePDF.

Who is Luke? Lucky Luke?
