The compilier isn't loaded yet...

Post by dodds_uk »

I have a problem with purebasic 4.51 (full version) it installs fine and runs on my windows 7 laptop, i need to install purebasic now on my desktop machine but get the above error when trying to run code (any source code my own or pb examples).

The compile/run or create exe button is grey out.

My desktop machine is windows 7 Professional 32bit.

I have un-installed several times, tried installing pb again via another downloaded copy.
Deleted the install folder, tried another install location, and checked the system registry for pb, also checked in compiler options to make sure pbcomplier.exe is correct.

Can anyone give me a clue please.....

Thanks in advance.

Hello Chris,

Well~come on board :)

unfortunately I can't help you with WIN7 concerns, but until someone drops in with some suggestions and you found the reason you might like to use PureBasic nevertheless but in portable mode.

Copy the pb-install-folder outside of any systemfolder and start it with the /portable parameter. All *.prefs will then be written to / read from the appfolder. (In case there already exist *.prefs in %appdata% they would be assumed on first start.)

good luck ~ Vera

dodds_uk - only 1 post since Tue Mar 29, 2005 12:36 pm - The compiler isn't loaded yet... wtf... ?
There is a difference between knowing the code and writing the code.
May the code be strong in your projects.

Yes I have been a registered user since 2005, yes I am genuine and have as much right to post as any other person here.

I have several applications in the field developed in PB, most things I can work out for my self by reading manuals and forum posts and haven't ever needed to post until today, as I am upgrading these older 2005 applications now, iv'e recently started using PB again.

Dodds, you just missed the big spammer incident we had lately, which is why people were suspicious.

This is a geniune bug. The only way round it currently is to close and restart the IDE.

There is somewhere in the menu an option to restart the compiler!
But yes this is a BUG and it happens to me from time to time too. (Why can it not just automatically restart itself?!)

Sometimes, that option didn't help at all. Then I had to close and restart the whole IDE. It happened that I had to do so 2 or 3 times, until the compiler worked.
