Eagerly Awaiting

Post by Stroggos »

I've just bought PureBasic, and the FAQ says you'll get the package within 5 minutes. It has now been close to 30 and I still do not have an email from Fantasie Software! I'm freaking out because I just spent $106(Australian) on something that is so far non-existent. I was wondering how long it'll take to get the package so I can start programming?

It usually doesn't take that long. Check your spam filter if you have one, the message might have been flagged as spam even though it isn't. If you still haven't received the e-mail, try e-mailing Fred directly.

I've emailed support@purebasic.com and I'm waiting for a reply but yeah I think I better email Fred because I'm here $106 out of pocket. However I have checked my Spam folder and there is nothing there.

I wouldn't worry, I'm sure you will get a response and an activation e-mail shortly. Sometimes it takes a short while.

Yeah I'm sure all will be dealt with in a timely manner but it was promised in 5 minutes and it has now been nearly 4 hours and I'm obviously a little disgruntled, however as I said I'm sure all will be dealt with.

Damnnit, another Adelaidian has infested the boards. Us Melbournians are going to have to kill a few of you off now (evil grin).

I just had a look back on my records and from the time I bought it until when I received the email to use it and it was almost instantaneous. I made a PDF of when my transaction was validated the time of which I used to compare with the received time of the email from Purebasic.

Possibly something went wrong in your case, so you may have to wait until its sorted. Still it is worth the wait. I have waited weeks for many other products to ship from overseas, and none of them were as good as PureBasic.

You haven't been ripped off, since that's what you're suggesting. It's obviously just a hiccup with the order. Have you sent an email to fred@purebasic.com yet? And download the demo (if you haven't already) so you can start playing in the meantime -- it'll help you to stop freaking out. Welcome!

Well a sigh of relief is now upon me, it came and I'm so pleased with this product. Now to program some games and apps!!! Thank you PB developers thank you VERY much! Also I know I didn't get ripped off it was just such bad timing on my part also I get really funny when it comes to online purchases that don't come to fruition as they should. But WOW this is extensive!

Last year it took 5 hours for me, too. Fred said he'd look in to it back then, too.

Took me a while to get mine too.. It wasn't a big deal, I just fired off a polite email asking for it to be looked into.

Response I got back was the automatic system was down, and my account was created manually (by Fred).
Maybe the provider of said system has some on-going issues

Relax, you're not dealing with a Basic of the Day but PureBasic that is
in development for over 10 years ! Same speed as c++ only half the code.
You will get your reply and account either from Fred, his company or
from this forum.

There is a difference between knowing the code and writing the code.
May the code be strong in your projects.

I bought mine copy in JAN just after new years... I had it next day after I emailed Fred. My CC had to clear... simple as that. Sometimes it isn't Fantasie but the processing company that is the issue. I know from intense experience (writing Point of Sale Software for Retail and Restaurants in PB) that the new rules involved in CC processing are HORRIBLE!!!

The reward of patience is patience... I know it is kind of a sucky reward but if you have enough patience you can find something to occupy your time so it will suck less... (What? You were expecting a Zen Koan?)

Start your code in the free version and get familiar with the examples and when you get the link you simply have top open the files in the registered version and rock on!!!

oh BTW Welcome!
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

...well, it wasn't very very late in the end, possibly also something to do with your location - perhaps your order was placed when Europe was sleeping, who knows.

However, should any other new customer hit the same issue and find themselves looking at this post, I hope they will feel reassured by the response from existing customers - PB is a Rolls Royce car for the price of a bicycle. Money well spent.

Plus, one can occupy the waiting time with the trial version and/or reading the fabulous Hints & Tips on this forum.

Very good things for all to read:

Just for the record: When bought my license I got the full registration information like 5 minutes later, so I think this is a common issue. If it takes a little longer don't worry, everything is legit here.
If any of you native English speakers have any suggestions for the above text, please let me know (via PM). Thanks!
