would it be possible to have the' Engine3d. dll' in its compact and fast version as before the 5.50 (or have both versions)

A bit of advice: Personally, i've reverted to 5.46 LTS final. With that version, speed is fine - you just have to do some scripting instead.
Without knowing for sure - I think the 3D part is a bit 'low priority' by the team for now, which is okay.
They'll probably get to it sooner or later.. - again..without knowing.
