[Closed] IDE Crashing a bit too much

Post by garretthylltun »

Anyone else have a problem with the IDE crashing randomly and a bit
frequently?

And if so, has it been reported in the Bugs section?

Thanks in advance,

Crashes PB Mac 3.94b

I have some, but I have not reported any yet. I think there is no idea to report crashes yet. If we report other bugs in the IDE, the crashes want be fixed and we get some new perhaps.. Just in time Fred is doing a lot of fixes in the IDE... When this features and changes is fixed, then we could begin to hunting crashes...

Have you some 'Home made Libraries' ?
When do you get the crash?
And if you should report an crash enclose the 'OS X Crash Report'

I think you could use the already started thread here 'PB 3.94 Works bad not pproperly...' Fred is raeading this, so we not have to 'clutter' the 'Bug Report thread' ...

We wait to hear what Fread says about this and how we should report crashes...

As I mentioned already a few times, it looks like IDE crashes on long code pages. That means it would be enough, to have one of them in one tab. It doesn't matter if you are still working in another program in another tab.
I have got the problem already with 1500 lines of code (I splitted my 3k lines into two files). If I close them completely and just only run some of the example files, the IDE looks like it works fine so far.

Additionally I found some bugs in the compiler, as I reported already.

Best Regards

I'll wait then.

And for me it doesn't matter the amount of code. And trying to pinpoint
the cause will be a pain as it happens during different events and actions,
and even lack of events or actions.

Sometimes I'll just select the IDE so I can edit some code and as soon as
I select it from the Dock it'll just crash. Or, I can just look at it and do
nothing and It will crash.

The randomness of it really boggles the mind.

And I'm not using any userlibs or anything outside of the original install
of PB itself. I'm not even using any exotic code either, just making a
simple basic text editor to see what I could do in PB and in what amount
of time.

I must say that PB seems to be hitting it real well for me, even I have
overlooked simple things like "Str()" ;-)

I purchased Revolution/Dreamcard around the same time as I purchased
PB, and Rev just isn't clicking for me. It's not the language though, it's
the Rev IDE that's killing me. I have A.D.D. and the Rev IDE is far too
distracting. Damn shame too as I spent nearly $700 USD on Rev and all
the extras that I got.

I'll be selling my Rev licenses and some of the extras with it and most
likely will donate quite a bit to PB, just because PB ROCKS! :-) Or maybe
a PB Scholarship thing where youngsters who can't afford and show a
real promise with PB will get PB paid for through this fund.
