What do i need to use MacOS X PureBasic?

Post by Kale »

I've just tried downloading and installing PureBasic for Mac OS X and had no success whatsoever getting any example to run. I must be doing something wrong. What exacty do i need to get it running, could someone list the steps needed to get a PB development enivronment sorted out on a fresh install of Mac OS 10.4.2 (Tiger) please? :)

I did this

1. Double click on the resulting DMG file, that usually gets place on your desktop

2. Click and hold on the Purebasic folder in the new folder that opens and select Copy from the Menu.

3. Open Finder and paste in the applications directory.

4. Delete the two folders on your desktop/

5. Drag the Purebasic Icon, inside the Purebasic folder in the Applications folder to the Dock

6. Run and enjoy.

I think this is about right, I'm doing this off the top of my memory. Just bought a Mac last week to try this out, amongst other things.

I can't exactly remember but i installed PB by opening the disk image and dragging the folder into my applications folder. After it copied i dumped the .dmg then dragged the PB app into the dock. Ran the app and opened an example to compile and it came up with an Assembly error. I can give more details on monday when i get back into work 'cos i have no mac here at home. I will give a full description then.

Do i need to have any developers tools installed? like is said i'm using a standard mac os tiger installation.

I've got the opportunity to develop some stuff for the macs here so i thought i'd give PB a whirl! :D I WILL get it running!

I just dragged pb to my home dir then clicked the app from there. So try your home dir instead of apps dir

I think gcc is a requirement. It is included with the development tools.
