I think this is because this isn't technically freeware, it's shareware.

I believe the reader is still free (it has been), it's the plug-ins that cost.

cheers

Foxit Reader's EULA wrote:
2. LICENSE: Foxit grants You the license to use Foxit Reader, free of charge, if you accept all the conditions listed in this agreement. "Use" means loading the product to CPU, memory, and/or other storages of your computer.
3. CONDITIONS: To be licensed to use Foxit Reader, You must:
...snipped
...
c) Not control Foxit Reader from other application, except launching Foxit Reader;
4. EVALUATION USE: Some functions of Foxit Reader requires additional license to fully operate. If you use them without additional license, Foxit Reader may put evaluation marks onto your document when you use those functions and save the document. Foxit Reader will notify you when you use those functions for the first time. In order to use Foxit Reader, you must accept the consequences of any modification made by Foxit Reader when you save a document.

It looks like it's not a plugin. But from the description perhaps it's only functions that alter a document and require saving it.

From the web page:

Foxit Reader is a free PDF document viewer and printer, with incredible small size (only 2.1 M download size), breezing-fast launch speed and rich feature set.
Quote:
LICENSE: Foxit grants You the license to use Foxit Reader, free of charge, if you accept all the conditions listed in this agreement.

@Demivec; is that what you understand as shareware :?:

@Psychophanta: Just a note, I'll respond but I want to avoid filling this thread with a lot of back-and-forth discussions that don't add anything.

Here's a quote from the v2.2's release:
Quote:
For trial users, Foxit Reader will stamp evaluation marks on edited pages.

I noted that the EULA said that you had to pay for an additional licesense for using certain features. That sounded like Shareware because it also crippled some of these features by marking up documents that were created or saved with "Evaluation Marks" until you paid for a license to enable a feature that could remove the marks. Notice it also refers to "trial users," like in Shareware.

Notwistanding those points, the software does have certain functions identified as free-for-use. These include viewing and printing a PDF, Basic PDF form operations (such as filling out a PDF Form), and viewing a PDF as text. Frankly, I am interrested in these free features but I thought that the others were included also at first glance.

The additional features include creating a PDF, editing a PDF, a form designer, and annotating a PDF in various ways. The web-site informs that these functions are normally aquired by paying outragous fees to another software provider (making them seem to be available for free). It neglects to tell you that you still need to pay a fee, it's just considered a "more reasonable" fee. My first post was just to inform that there were additional fees necessary to use may of the functions promoted for the software, and yes there are some free ones.

P.S. If anyone knows of a good PDF Printer, that prints documents in PDF format for saving, that is selected instead of a physical printer in a printer dialog please send me a PM. And yes, cheap or free is an attractive point of consideration.

Pencil is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source.

Does anyone know of any music software that works similarly to Notion 2, Progression, or Protege?

If you use Internet Explorer, this is one the best add-ins I've found for it.

IE7Pro: http://www.ie7pro.com/

Features:

Enhance Internet Explorer's Tabbed Browsing Capabilities
1. Double click to close tab.
2. Open new tab from address bar.
3. Enable/disable tab browse history manager.
4. Enable/disable crash recovery
5. Move the IE menu bar above the address bar
6. Hide search bar.
7. Modify the maxium number of parallel connections to the web server.
8. Select the external program to view page source

Super Drag and Drop
With Super Drag and Drop enabled, you can open new links by simply dragging and dropping the link on the page. You can also Drag and Drop to search selected words with the default search engine or save the selected photo when Shift is held down.

Mouse Gesture
Mouse Gesture allow the user to execute commonly performed tasks (open/close a tab, go back, go forward , print , scrolling page etc.) by drawing a simple symbol on the screen.

Crash Recovery
Crash Recovery automatically restores all opened pages after a crash happened.

Save Page to Image
Flexible and easy-to-use tool that converts html page from any URL to image. It captures the whole web page's content into JPG, BMP , GIF , PNG or TIFF on the fly.

Quick Proxy Switcher
Different internet connections do often require completely different proxy server settings and it's a real pain to change them manually.

AD Blocker
Blocks all forms of advertising, including Flash ads, rich media, fly-ins, slide-ins, pop-ups, pop-unders, spyware and adware ads, and messenger ads.

Greasy monkey alike User Script
IE7Pro Script is to Internet Explorer7 as Greasemonkey is to Firefox. It lets you remix the Web via scripts.

Inline Search
Adds the inline search bar like firefox has, finds as you type, use the F3 and Enter Key to cycle between multiple results, highlight all results.

Spell Check
IE7Pro Spell Check will check any text you enter and alert you to possible errors by adding a red underline to any potentially misspelled words.

@Tipperton, have you tried Avant Browser?
If yes, is IE7Pro better in your opinion?
