I knew there was an easy way to do it quickly. :)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

The problem is, in the meantime while we wait for the ones with those privileges to take action. Already the SPAMMING created a bit of a disturbance on the board. I've seen high volume of SPAMMING on here on a few occasions now, and like before, it takes awhile before action is taking.

Perhaps because spiderbasic.com is still quite new and not yet on the search engine maps; and as for the German site, possibly because the spambot algorithms are in English.

And, just as fast, they're back.

In fact we could have a 'This is Spam' button on each post to:
1) Quarantine all posts from the same User
2) Show the thread greyed-out in the lists (they often post to existing forum threads)
3) Find the User's IP Address and launch a cruise missile.......

There seems to be a problem with the CAPTCHA on the forum. I have disabled new registrations until we can figure out why.

I am working on it.

Seems like the only viable solution.

Visual CAPTCHA Plugins. CAPTCHAs are included in the phpBB stock install but have been broken by spambots. They are as followed;
  • CAPTCHA Without GD
    GD 3D CAPTCHA
    reCAPTCHA
    GD CAPTCHA
Using CAPTCHA now will only slow them down, but from what I've been observing that doesn't even seem to be the case anymore.

You'll have to-do more than simply depend on CAPTCHA to stop SPAMbots.

Last year, one of the blogs I read talked about a way to automate "listening" to the captcha audio. Their guess was that it is only a matter of time before the spambots were doing it. Maybe the time is here.

The problem is not that the captcha is ineffective. It did work pretty well in the past. The problem is that the service that provides it (http://peoplesign.com/) is unreachable and this seems to have caused the plugin to just disable the captcha check alltogether. So anybody could get in without a check.

We will leave registration disabled until the service is back. Lets hope it does not take too long.

A simple "Add the numbers seven and eleven" could likely eliminate the majority of them while Captcha is out. OTOH, I know that adding a simple text field is not always as simple as it sounds.

But PureBasic doesn't support the Then statement. May I suggest If/Else instead?

Sorry for goofing around, but I had a good day!
